Is there such a thing as an automatic light switch?

We have Hue lights in our house, with separate (battery operated) light controls that we have positioned near the standard light switch. You can buy blanks that fit over the top of the standard light switch to prevent accidental operation.MyRealNameToo said:
The main problem is if when walking out the house they flip the light switch off as they have done for the last 45 years the bulb is now unpowered and nothing they can do about it remotely.RumRat said:Seems to me the OP just needs two Tapo smart bulbs to meet all his requirements. I use them everywhere, no need for switches or plugs (although I also have those for things other than lighting).
Anything else would seem to be an over complication...

We use the Hue switches to turn the lights on and off as normal, and in the hall/landing we have sensors so the lights will operate automatically at night when you enter that space. The Hue app lets us control the lights remotely as well as set automatica schedules for the lights when we are away.
The downside of Hue is that the bulbs and controls are quite expensive, but it does just work.1 -
I have a Broadlink LC1 light switch, it works as a normal switch but then I can set it on a timer using the app.1

Surely, one of the key questions is whether there’s both live and neutral at the light switch? Or have things moved on since I last looked at these? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

The point was already raised and an example of one that doesnt need a neutral connection was also suggestedGDB2222 said:Surely, one of the key questions is whether there’s both live and neutral at the light switch? Or have things moved on since I last looked at these?1 -
