Thanks for all your comments. Both WD40 and GT85 have been reformulated no longer contain PTFE. I will give both locks a spray and leave for a while and then try turning.0

I can recommend this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0F6DDMXXD?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_dt_b_fed_asin_title_0_0&th=1 - worked a treat for our locks.
Apparently locks need this sort of thing applied every 12 months0 -
In the end I decided against WD40 and GT85. I had tried both on padlocks previously and it never lasted long.
Purchased Abus lock lubricant PS88. Recommended by person who knew about stiff locks. Sprayed and left for 24 hours, now been using the lock for a week and the key turns the smoothest it has in a long time. Not a long term test I know but wanted to report back.5 -
Me too. The flexible nozzle thingy can be pushed round corners in the case of locks, from the keyhole if the door remains locked then. When loose enough use the key to turn the mechanism back and forth until you are confident it's working.
This is purely because that's what I had to hand back in the day.
I'd then use very fine sandpaper on the sticky out bit to clean it off and wiggle some between that and the hole.
Once working you can use the proper stuff and get it cleaned out.
Sorry for my poor knowledge of naming the bits 😊 but I did get all internal and external locks working a treat in my old house.
Haven't taken a lock to pieces since a new one said I could reverse it.
Spring pinged out and I couldn't work out how to get it back. The shop thought it was hilarious.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
