What's going on with Robert Dyas??

I need a new office chair for computer work....well play. One of the options that came up was from Robert Dyas. I thought that's a well known name so it should be fine - it did state only a 6 month warranty though, which I found odd. I Googled some reviews, and I was shocked by what I found. Almost every single review is a complaint - no joke. I don't think I've ever seen a retailer with such a bad set of feedback. This is a name that's been around for years - a semi-high street name. What gives??

Is this the chair review or Robert Dyas as a retailer?Bungle73 said:I need a new office chair for computer work....well play. One of the options that came up was from Robert Dyas. The retailer appears to have quite positive reviews.
Ultimately if it's a cheap chair, used heavily i.e. in a WFH situation then it may lack longevity... So would attract poor reviews.
We've had good mileage out of an IKEA office chair (10 years, adult male WFH 100%) if you're looking for something at a lower price point.1 -
It seems that many bricks'n'mortar retailers just can't resist having vast swathes of online inventory across product lines that seem miles away from their usual proffer because they can.
It's the internet, and if that lets Boots the Chemist sell you a fridge-freezer or Tesco sell you pretty much anything because of their "merchant" deals then sobeit.
Dyas list over 800 models of office chair (presumably that includes different colourways?), good luck picking the one that's right for you. Personally, buying a chair (particularly one that's getting extended use) I'd want to get my backside on it before I spent.
Happy to go to Dyas for a spanner, Boots for paracetamol.1 -
I agree - it would never occur to me to look at Robert Dyas for an office chair as it's really not the type of offering I'd associate them with.flaneurs_lobster said:It seems that many bricks'n'mortar retailers just can't resist having vast swathes of online inventory across product lines that seem miles away from their usual proffer because they can.
I'm not sure if Staples still exist ? They were one of my go-tos for office supplies and office furniture.
Or Viking Direct, although note that as they are aimed at business, from memory their headline prices tend to be e quoted as X + VAT0 -
Staples no longer have physical stores (RIP). Them and Maplin are two physical shops I actually miss.p00hsticks said:

Turn this round. When you are happy with a product. Do you leave a review about how good the retailer & product are?Bungle73 said:I need a new office chair for computer work....well play. Small retailer or service provider or restaurant - yes. UK-wide chain owned by Theo Whatshisname off the telly - not so much.born_again said:
