Render or Repoint?

Next door looks like theirs was done. The price with pointing can vary a lot. It depends on a number of factors such as whether it's lime or cement, the type of pointing, such as flush, weather struck, bucket handle etc. You would probably be looking at around £70 a square metre. On the gable wall it looks like there are a few bricks to replace, so that will be a bit extra.
Problem with people who specialize in repointing is that a lot of them were rubbish on the trowel and got into repointing as most of the time served tradesmen didn't want the work as it's so boring.1 -
Try asking your neighbour how much their repoint cost.2

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I'll look into repointing I think.

Would scaffolding generally be needed for repointing? If so, are there any other issues like guttering or roofing? I wonder if it is worth considering and kill two birds with one stone.
Note: i have no experience in this area so just throwing this idea out!

I'd want a scaffold if I was going to repoint that house. I've done some jobs off a tower scaffold.0
