Render or Repoint?

Next door looks like theirs was done. The price with pointing can vary a lot. It depends on a number of factors such as whether it's lime or cement, the type of pointing, such as flush, weather struck, bucket handle etc. You would probably be looking at around £70 a square metre. On the gable wall it looks like there are a few bricks to replace, so that will be a bit extra. 
Problem with people who specialize in repointing is that a lot of them were rubbish on the trowel and got into repointing as most of the time served tradesmen didn't want the work as it's so boring.

Try asking your neighbour how much their repoint cost.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I'll look into repointing I think.

Would scaffolding generally be needed for repointing? If so, are there any other issues like guttering or roofing? I wonder if it is worth considering and kill two birds with one stone.

Note: i have no experience in this area so just throwing this idea out!

I'd want a scaffold if I was going to repoint that house. I've done some jobs off a tower scaffold.
