Just to update on my case. I had the call with the mediator today, we agreed a settlement of £50, which I am okay with due to their total claim being £486 for the 2 claims. I believe their claim costs plus chasing me would have exceeded £50 so hopefully a loss still for them :).

Claim value including court and legal fee: £485.88

Their offer 1 £250 - I countered with £10.

Their offer 2: £120 - They accepted that the keying error should be removed but wanted £20 for admin costs and £100 for the 16 minute over stay. I stuck to offering £10 - in hindsight, I wish I had tried at £20 here.

They rejected my offer and said that they wouldn't go that low and therefore it would go to court. I said I would offer £50 as a best and final to settle to which they agreed. I do wonder if I offered £20 at round 2, I may have got a lower counter offer but hindsight is a good thing,

As I said above, I am okay with the £50, saved me alot of hassle and possibly money if they did proceed to court due the relatively high claim.

Not too shabby! I wouldn't have offered over £20 but I get it. It was two PCNs and fifty quid is less than the discount for one PCN.

And life's too short to waste time on these scam parking firms.

Also you and your family will avoid private car parks like the plague now! Seek out council car parks which cannot operate with ANPR. And if you have no choice (hotels, pubs, gym, retail parks) read signs carefully and don't drive out past the camera if you encounter a problem that isn't your fault, such as a non-working machine or keypad.

This sector needs stopping. Look out for the new Statutory rules later this year. The Government - and hopefully the CMA - are coming for them.
