TA I’m not going into a shop until I need to my freezers are stuffed I got a little pork joint out for today and some sausage for tomorrow it’s hardly made a difference I think the other stuff has just settled into the gap like having a stretch in bed . Afternoon all, thanks for today's start @Gers - what dreadful weather you're having in your part of the world, I'm relieved to hear you haven't been blown away! And thanks too @-taff for today's choice of carol.
Yesterday's jobs all got done, including an extra unplanned wash load when I realised there was only one clean tea towel left in the drawer. How slovenly am I?
The sunshine did tempt me out for a walk later in the afternoon, only a very short one though as it was much colder out than I'd expected. Still, it was enough to blow away the cobwebs. And a pat on the back for me after I had a small success with the new-to-me iphone - it was showing the wrong time (apparently set for Los Angeles - why?) but is now correct on UK time. Not bad, considering there's no instruction manual. It doesn't take a lot to make me happy!
The weather is now back to dullness with drizzle possible at any time, so no venturing out today. Apart from preparing dinner, there's nothing needs doing either so I'm having a lazy day. Lots I could do - yes; need to do - no.
One thing I want to do is have a browse for a calendar for next year; the ones I've seen in our local shops aren't inspiring me at all. I know, a calendar is a calendar, but if I'm looking at it all year I want it to be the right one!
Said dinner will be a couple of cooked gammon slices c/o the freezer with baby potatoes & veg, apple pie and a blob of cream for afters. I've finished streaming The Serpent Queen (a quirky historical drama with comedy/irony thrown in, different but enjoyable - as long as you can overlook the bad language) and have marked The White Queen for my next watch.
Just had a phone call from DS in Brazil where it's 31 deg and it's not even lunchtime yet! Far too hot for me but not for him and he's enjoying the food (lots of fresh fish, grilled meats, beans, pulses, peppers etc). They're staying at his DP's brother's house in a non-tourist area that's mainly Portuguese speaking so the Duo Lingo practice has come in handy. Now they're off to the beach - envious, moi? A little.
Have a good day all, whether it be busy or slothful, take care especially if you're feeling stressed, lonely or below par health-wise. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
Hello everyone
I'm late today but I have finished my Christmas wrapping and made a Christmas jumper - no cards written yet though! Not so much made a Christmas jumper I've decorated an old one as we're having a competition at nursery tomorrow, the staff that is, the children will vote. I've basically made a Christmas tree out of green tinsel and glued it to the front, then it's got chocolate baubles ( bribery to vote for mine!), candy canes, bells, a gold star at the top and a string of battery operated lights. It could all fall to pieces when I try to put it on - which won't be until I actually get to work otherwise my bells will be ringing on the bus!
I went down to DDs with some Calpol yesterday and sat with little one while DD had a shower, shes still not well at all bless her and having a lot of diarrhoea but did cheer up a little. DD decided to tell her about Butlins as she was upset about missing school, that certainly cheered her up and I had a very excited phone call this morning. She has sat and written all her Christmas cards for her friends at school today and her birthday invitations, I've to collect them in the morning before I go to work.
Eldest DD was on the phone for a chat earlier, she is in Ghent and did another of her weird Hyrox competitions this morning - she has moved up to pro level which she said was a lot more difficult, but she'd enjoyed it and had a good position....strange child!
Snoozer - you could have been writing about me re friends, I don't seem to have the knack and never have had really...Up until recently I've only really had a couple who I see occasionally, one more than the other, though this time last year a lady I worked with for a short while moved opposite me and we have become good friends. It's really nice and we usually have a cuppa at least a couple of times a week and go out for coffee or lunches...it's only taken me 58 years!
Yorkslass - I'd lobe to be somewhere 31 degrees, though I'd probably complain I was too hot! The wind has howled all day again here.
Right, I'm going to wash up and have a bath, thanks for all the good wishes for little one x

Good evening from a very wet Mehefinland
A late one form me - still catching up from yesterday lol. Concert went well last night, although the afternoon rehearsal was pretty dire, mainly as the heating was off and we were all ffffffreezing. It had warmed up a bit by the evening , which was as well as our outfit is a little sparse for the winter weather. The accompanying cellist was brilliant - the Vaughn Williams certainly sounded very different. He then played a Suite by Bach 9 One of the younger audience members was really impressed as he didn't use any music!! - she meant sheet music of course.
A good evening all around in the end, and a full church which was gratifying.
Spent a fair bit of today with back twinges - a lot of standing and upping and downing throughout the day no doubt.
Picked up yet another bag full of rubbish from the verges this morning too - it sometimes seems such an uphill battle.
Bucketing down at the moment and an amber warning for more rain tomorrow - oh joy!!
The guys spotted the alpacas next door for the first time this morning - the made far less fuss than I anticipated - and nothing like when they first spotted the pigs! Don't think they will be too happy with the rain tomorrow - may be a quick dash in and out for an hour or so - see how it goes, as the forecast never seems to marry up with actuality as a a rule.
Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin aka Derek
