Sorry to hear you had a bad night GersThe sunrise is lovely here - not encouraging me to get up though. There’ll be the usual mix of crafts, parcels, dog walking and cooking today with some visitors thrown in for good measure. Still haven’t written any Christmas cards though did manage to wrap presents to post to my BF in Scotland.Hope everyone has a good day

Morning - oh gosh @Gers!!!We had grand furbaby overnight hence the reason I’m up earlier today. Also didn’t see my bed until 1am as picked DH up from the station and then we were talking about our days. Will be flagging later for sure.Food shopping this morning with Mum. The Christmas fayre yesterday was heaving both on the streets and inside various venues - really good to see. I purchased some earring and skincare - both for me! Also got stocking fillers for my two DS’s.Will be hunkering down later to finish decorating the house so the boxes can got back in the loft. There is also some washing and ironing to sort.Oh @mehefin - in the words of Delboy - play it cool!! You never know what might happen. Agree that making friends as an adult isn’t all that easy. I left 20 years worth of friends behind a year ago and only 2 have visited us here - clearly it’s a shorter distance for us to travel back there?!Dinner today is Parmesan chicken tenders either chips and salad. I defrosted the chicken yesterday so it needs using.Good decision on the job @RedRuby1231 and happy packing! X
Glad that little DGD is home @dp1 x
Have a good day all

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I'm glad to hear you are still with us despite the horrendous weather. I hope there is no damage. The heavy stuff is due to get to us tomorrow when the storm starts moving down country.
I actually slept in this morning! I woke up at 6.30 which is a lie in for me. I think the string of endless night's sleep finally caught up with me. If only every night was like that.
I got a bit carried away with shopping yesterday so another freezer shuffle was needed to house it all. More willpower will be needed for next w/e's shop when I really must just stick to f & v and fridge stuff.
Today may well end up to be a Sunday of Sloth despite stuff needing doing. I haven't christened any of today's eats (other than breakfast which has just been enjoyed) so a freezer dive will be next.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. RR I hope your sister soon feels better and doesn't pass the flu on to the rest of you. Take care all, be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -

And everyone telling you "Be of good cheer"

When friends come to call

Morning! Not raining or anything, so that's a bonus..We had a good night last night, takeaway, presents, alcohol, although not much was getting through the food and the sticky toffee pudding was a hit, luckily. Oh has plans to demolish the rest of it today and tomorrow, he said he'll just eat that thanks, made me laugh..Today I have some lamp making with another two friends, looks like fun, so looking forward to that. And then there's clearing up after last night, so recycling and the magic cupboard is already doing it's thing. Other than that, I am going to do some knitting [ making another cowl] and possibly, read a book, watch a film, that kind of thing. We wrote the Christas cards yesterday so there's those to put through letterboxes or post today..
TA, well done on getitng some sleep for a change! And you know, everything in the freezer will eventually get eaten so stocking bargains or goodies is a good move
Coxy, glad you got some presents for yourself, but do you find you get presents for people, then see something you think they'll like better? I find it slower to make friends if that makes sense, I find I need to suss people out more slowly before I decide if they're keepers or not, and always a no with too much drama or moaning, can't be doing with that, life is short, even its carp sometimes, I like to stay positive or at least, not negative...Allie, enjoy a quiet day
Ruby, how awful for her, ybe on another thread, has said her fella and his mates have been wiped out and one of the hopsitalised over it, and they're all young uns, relatively speaking and fit. Yorkslass, everyone deserves a lie in, especially at this time of year...Izzy, I got some treacle toffee as a present, quite a big bag too, so that'll be next to me for however long it lasts
Gers, sounds like it was a bit of a trial, hope the leaks didn't leak! Take care all, have a good day if you can..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10 -
Today I feel sluggish, not sure if that is up or down the scale from being slothful! The overnight rain was just horrendous, it battered all through until about half an hour ago. Blooming wind didn't help keep the noise down. Thank goodness that the nightly ABs are keeping my problem at bay so I didn't need to get up every 10 minutes.Yesterday I collected my meds and then drove in the opposite direction to buy some fresh free range eggs from a local honesty box in the next village. Once home I boiled them up immediately to make my egg mayo for the next couple of days. I also poached some chicken. Then I slothed.SCD was, I thought, much better than last week albeit with the usual overmarking and gushing - I mute the bits in between and only pay attention to the dances and scoring. TV-lite!Great news @DP1, it's such a shame about the Christmas school stuff though I know that you and your DD will help make things up to your little one. Nice one @mehefin - making acquaintances is fairly easy, making friends is so difficult at a later age.My friends were delighted with the mini-tree, phoned me first and then sent a photo of it when put together. The husband insisted on doing it, he has a form of MND so the result was somewhat wonky. The wife said she's sort it out when he went to sleep.
I've also sent one to my late DM's crossword friend, Lionel, as he has COPD and doesn't get out at all much these days. Not sure if he's ever had a tree in his place as, until his brother died last year, he was always away. Ah well, a little bit of cheerfulness and twinkle never goes amiss. I hope that no-one has been washed away - there's a great little news report about a women in an Audi who called out the fire brigade to 'rescue' her from a flooded road. Turns out the water was only ankle deep, not even the wheels of the car were under water. It did make me chuckle first thing.Take care all, hugs to poorlies and more thanks @Taff for the song.10 -
Morning All
Still blustery after a wet and windy night, hope you've no damage Gers. The little trees sound lovely, I was given one a few years ago and it's growing in the garden!
Went out for a few bits yesterday and ended up with a Christmas tree (wasn't going to bother as I'll be away), a bargain at £7. Actually quite enjoyed decorating it although it's a bit wonky!
The freezer defrost is underway, will get the hairdryer on it soon to speed things up.
Glad the little one is home dp1, good decision not to send her to school even though she will miss the festivities.
Nice you can stay friends Mehefin, it is much harder to make friends later in life.
Gers, I saw that lady in the car - what a snowflake!
Thanks for the song taff, glad your sticky toffee pudding was a hit.
Well done on the work decision Ruby, what a bonus that you can walk there.
Coxy. I always think that about phone calls and text - sometimes they only work one way!
Right, back to the freezer, take care. XX7 -
Morning all, raining hard here. I may not get out for a walk yet as Lennydog doesn't like the rain. Yesterday we didn't end up going to watch DGS match as we found out at the last minute DS1 was going out for most of the day & it would have been too long to leave him with us going to a match in the afternoon.DS2 & co had only been back a few minutes when we arrived to pick them up so it was the right decision.Met up with DB2 and fam as usual but the DGC took themselves off to CCoffee early for a bubble tea & met up with us at the car.I did a lot of wrapping in the morning, mainly DGDs stuff which arrived the day before. We had a chicken curry I made for tea, tonight it's roast beef from the freezer, and a sticky toffee pud ( not home made though @-taff,yours sounds yummy , thanks for the carols)Glad you have reconnected with your friend @mehefinHappy to hear LO is feeling much better and had some Christmassy fun even if it's in hospital @dp1Slobby Sunday I think today - enjoy yours and no catching flu!:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Hi everyone, Gosh, it's been ages since I posted, I've managed to read most days, albeit a skim read at Midnight some days. I thought I was busy when the family lived here but things have been mad recently with mercy dashes to help with sick children to going up to the Yorkshire house to put up decorations for the Christmas visitors. In between we had a wonderful long weekend at Centre Parcs with all the family, it was lovely seeing the grandchildren having fun together, everyone was sad to leave. Things are continuing at pace, we bought an artificial tree instead of real this year, it was reduced and the display one so further reduced and we got the display basket thing for the base for half price as well so I feel ok about it. It's also pre-lit so no longer will we have to battle with the lights and no needles to hoover up! We (I for the most part) just need to decorate the rest of the house now. We're babysitting Nate tomorrow night and have him on Wednesday and in between will have to wrap the presents, menu plan and make anything I want to make ahead. Re: friends, I have very few, I just don't seem to have the knack of making them and although I am in touch with a couple of friends from school and uni we are far flung so no chance of a cup of coffee and a chat. My sister-in-law makes friends wherever she goes and Laura has inherited the knack from her, she already has quite a few friends in Bristol. I think it may be because my upbringing was quite isolated, mum and dad never had friends round or went out with friends and we were never encouraged to be close as a family so I've always found it difficult to behave like most people. dp1, I'm glad little one is back home even if she has to miss the last week of school. Have a good day.6

Morning all
Its been raining in the night but stopped for a while more due later.
Not much on the cards today, I have a wash on the go which will have to go on the airer, a bit of housework to do and then packing, I got all the final presents wrapped yesterday I am so glad that’s done I hate wrapping, but it’s done for another year apart from the odd birthday ones.
Dinner tonight is a bit of ready stuffed pork which I got reduced in mr T, I thought OH could have the pork without the stuffing but when I checked it was GF, they used rice flour so a win for him and it’s good as I’m not too keen on stuffing and will only have a tiny bit. I’m not doing a roast though I will do some garlic cubed potatoes and green beans to go with it.DD is working a late so I expect she will cook at work.
After we have packed I suspect an afternoon of sloth will be on the cards, OH will walk the dogs and I shall light the fire and put a film on.
Gers sorry you had a bad night xx
DP1 I’m glad little one is home xx
Have good days all and take care xx
