2026: The Final Year

Today's little win:
Our home insurance is spread over 11 months rather than 12 so I budget for 12 months. This is the month it is not going out so I have used it towards paying down the credit cards today.
£53 paid off so far!!
Today's plans are doing some decluttering and organising ready for the New Year. I might manage to get some bits on vinted later but we shall see.

Today's little win:
I rounded down all our accounts to the nearest £10 and added up the money and shaved off another £4 bringing it to a neat and tidy £6500.
But then I ruined this by realising the minimum payment had come out for one of the 0% cards and it is now £6436 and £121 paid off - whoopee!!
I am enjoying the process and can't wait until we can do it for our mortgage again, hopefully by the summer.
There is £2476 not on 0% so we want to tackle this as quickly as possible through round down's, windfalls's, selling stuff, interest earned from some of our savings accounts etc. The 0% stuff will have a different strategy once the rest has gone. I'm looking forward to our 2 months of no council tax in the Spring which will be about £460 to chuck at it!
I sorted out the children's bedrooms yesterday so they are both nicely deep cleaned for the new year.
I'm going to get the bits on Vinted in a bit and then meal plan and shop for the rest of the week. I have an online 2026 goal setting party tonight to attend so I will also be getting ready for that and then plan our January.
For New Years Eve we are at home on our own. Last year we had friends stay over which was lovely but I came down with a cracking migraine during the evening and had to go to bed, so it was awful really. We are going to make more of New Years Day and get up early and watch the sun rise on the coastline. We live in the East and it is not far from us. we have done it before and it is quite an adventure!

That would make a lot of sense but to be honest, I’m playing the psychological game here over the practical game. We have to pay the interest out of our monthly spending money so it is in our best interests to get ourselves organised and sort ourselves out quickly.MFWannabe said:Are you able to get a 0% balance transfer card for the interest bearing debt?
On the practical side of things, we don’t want to take out another credit card as in the last year we have taken an extra £30k on our mortgage for our garden room, finance for a year old car and also one of the 0% cards has a tumble dryer on it that we bought in the autumn when we changed our oil boiler to a heat pump and lost our warm cupboard. I want to save 0% ing u til the summer when we will have to do it for the larger balance that is due in July.
I could also pay this off tomorrow with savings we have if I wanted to but I’m trying to change the way we organise paying for things if that makes sense.Start Total 12/12/25 £6557

Good morning!Update: Two more things sold on Vinted to post today and I have started another pile of books to trade.
Going to finish off my goals for 2026 today and then relax with my family tonight eating Mexican food and playing games. Off to the cinema this morning to see a kids film so will enjoy spending some time with them. May treat them to lunch out for something for them.

Happy New year to you all!
Interest was paid into our savings accounts today so I have skimmed it off the top and used it to pay down the credit cards - £43 in total. We are now at £164 paid off in about 2 weeks which is an excellent start!
I'm going to give the house a bit of a tidy today but other than that just relax and enjoy the day off for us all. i'm going to start making plans as well!
Just the long month of January to get through and I hope that this new job of mine works out for me.
