Morning, thanks Gers.
It's not a bad morning here as far as I can tell, no rain or high wind.
Yesterday we were in most of the day, I cleaned our bedroom carpet with the new carpet machine we bought, it's come up really well.
I need a bit of shopping today, and a friend will be visiting this evening, that's the plans as of now anyway.
Take care folks.

Still pitch dark here, I do miss the light. The meeting with accountant went really well. Now I should receive a code from HMRC which allows him to deal with them on my behalf and he'll be able to work his way through the minefield. I don't mind paying tax if it's due but to just be docked without knowing how much is nonsense. The last time I spoke to agent in mid-November he hung up on me! Yes, I lodged a complaint though still waiting to hear from them. Anyway, it's a huge relief to have handed things over, he'll do a tax return and I can pay in one lump sum. One letter told me I didn't owe anything whilst according to my onli account I owed £1500. Madness.Today I have go up to the big town to collect two Marks orders abs do a little light shopping for veggies. There's still plenty of other stuff in the freezer and I still have soup to make.I hope that all are doing well.14

Morning Everyone
Thanks for the start Gers, pleased to hear the appointment with your accountant went well. I got a letter a week or so ago to say that I owe £71, this after HMRC gave me a refund last year! I could pay it now or it can come off my salary which is what I'll do, can't help thinking it will confuse matters if I pay it now!
Lovely day at work yesterday, it was a colleague's 40th and another Nativity performance so I actually didn't do much work! I've decided to go back next week, not sure I can face another week of nothingness before a 2 week holiday!
Off to meet a friend for brunch today and must do some food shopping, the fridge is looking a bit bare although the freezer is full. The freezer is in need of defrosting as one of the drawers is refusing to open!
Glad your meeting went well Ruby, lots to think about again.
One load of washing has been done, will hang it out in a bit as we are apparently going to have a dry day with a bit of sunshine.
Take care. XX
PS, I don't have a pineapple head this morning, the haircut is fine!11 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers. I too struggle with the tax minefield, am keeping track of my (minimal) hours in this role as doubt I’ll reach the tax threshold this year.Yesterday turned out busy! DH had a BP test which was normal (yay!) but needs a well-man check so that’s now in train. I picked up an order from B00ts then we headed to the GC and rescued some plants from their sale area. DH got the outside lights up and I sorted my new laptop with the IT work contact. I’m working today so will take both new and borrowed laptop just in case!
I’ve had a couple of online sales for our fundraising, so need to get those packed up and in the post after work. Dinner is gnocchi with Parma ham and peas.Glad you had a good day yesterday @camelot1001 and pleased you are able to return next week x

Morning all
It’s another dark wet start though supposed to be sunny later .
Yesterday I managed to get the fabric I needed after DFs physio. That went fine, one particular muscle he needs to strengthen to ensure his kneecap sits straight so he has exercises but also needs to be more mindful of the way he gets up out of a chair.Today is DM shopping trip - hopefully the last one before Christmas. She can only manage one or two shops at a time so it’s taken a few sessions.Hope everyone has a good Friday

Morning all,wet at the moment, I'll leave it a bit to take doggo out and see if it stops.I didn't get on yesterday and haven't caught up yet either so hope all is well. DH was at a funeral in the morning, and we have another next week.Hope your tax is easier now Gers. I hope we don't get any unexpected demands now with DH packing up work, and the costs for the accountant yearly and quarterly were a lot.We seemed to spend a long time on the road yesterday afternoon picking up DGS - there are roadworks on the main road a bit further down and it is causing horrendous back ups & delays. By the time we got back I couldn't be bothered cooking so H had leftover hash and I had a Scotch egg and salad.Looking out of the front window towards the main road it looks to be the same again. The last 2 of my cards to be hand delivered later.Camelot, it's a nice week to go back to work next week with Xmassy events.Take care all:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning everyone
The wind has dropped here at last and the forecast is for some sun later so I might take a chance and put some washing out before I go to work. I'm going a bit earlier as we have Christmas crafts this morning with an assortment of mums, dads, grannies coming to join in....it's always a lovely morning. My craft involves Gu glass cheesecake containers....I had 20 in the top of one of the kitchen cupboards.
Good news on little one at last - they managed to get her back onto her feeding pump yesterday, she had been pleased because it meant she could go downstairs to see the big Christmas tree. She had also been doing some Christmas crafts with one of the play nurses. DD is going to ask if they can come home today if the doctor is happy with her as the hospital is full of patients with flu and covid, and they have to put masks on to leave their room. She thinks she has to have another xray first to make sure her bowel is clear.
I'd best get moving, hope everyone has a good day today x12 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's a gloomy start here, I don't think it's going to get daylight all day.
IZZY your poor friend sounds to be going through the mill. I hope she soon picks up. It's not the best time to be out of action is it.
YL is there something about flying to Rio I wonder?! My late DB had to go from work quite some years ago and he said the flight was so bad he was never going to fly anywhere again and he didn't.- other than flying back home again!
Nothing worth mentioning going on at Casa Abuela today other than the boring Friday Tidy. Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for all in need. Take care, be safe x
Better news at last DP1, hope she gets home after the x-ray x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning all from dull Mehefinland
I swear my keyboard has a mind of its own - it's like Officer Crabtree on 'Allo 'Allo!!! Spend more time correcting the garbage produced than typing it in the first place
Well , yesterday was intense....
Started with a small bonfire to clear some mouldy hay out - which somehow managed to smoulder all day after the initial flare up ( still going at 5 last night and i lit it at 8ish.
Fairy decided that the grass was definitely greener on the other side of the fence and partially demolished it in her endeavours to get to it. Cue me deciding to remove the fence ( I had intended to anyway over Xmas - so they got an early present!). Even though the electric tape was on the ground, Showman would not cross it - it just shows the power of suggestion I suppose. I was quite pleased with him, not like the other little so and so ( please insert much non MSE words here!!!).
Whilst in the middle of all this, with coils of fencing tape etc wrapped around me I took a call from my doggy friend with bad news. Their lovely corgi had a major problem with its back legs, and they had been referred to the veterinary hospital in Bristol, could I look after the other dog? Of course I can- so rush back, collect dog and take him home for however long. Cancelled my date scheduled for the afternoon, and settled down for a long wait.
Long story short - they got back by 5ish, M4 was ok for a change!, dog has a ruptures disc which has a hole in and has to be kept quiet for at least 4 weeks to let it heal. This is for a ball obsessed, very active bundle so it is going to be difficult . Poor dog is walking with a distinct curve to his body, and his back leg gives way every now and again - he is only 3 and owners are distraught. Apparently it is a problem in long backed dogs such as corgis and daschunds.
Anyway, managed to rescue my date and had a fish n chips supper and a convivial evening, although I did end up getting a xmas tree and bits and bobs out of her loft.
And home to bed as Samual Pepys would say!!
Glad to here DPs little person is on the mend. Hope the rest of the poodles are as fortunate. Try not to get the 'flu.
Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin aka Derek
