eBay - Simple Delivery Item Damaged During Delivery

I'm the seller, and I can see from the EVRi tracking is that the package got damaged in transit. The photo when they handed it over to the buyer shows the item in a plastic bag when I packaged it up in a protective cardboard mailer. Buyer has opened up a return request and not messaged me with any details. I'm a little unclear as to what happens next as eBay doesn't make it clear. So:

1. Is the (damaged) item returned back to me at eBay's cost?
2. Does the buyer get a full refund for what they paid - i.e. item + buyer protection + delivery?
3. Do I get the payment for the sale for the item I get back but then can't re-list as it may be damaged?

Thanks.

File an EVRi claim NOW with the tracking photos showing damage. Buyer gets refunded, you're out of pocket unless the courier pays up. Return shipping is on you. Welcome to selling on eBay

Really?  The screenshot says the seller won't be charged.  This is the main advantage of Simple Delivery, eBay covers losses and damage in the post rather than the seller being responsible.

eBay have updated the status and I can see the buyer has got a full refund for everything they paid. According to my payment history, I received the funds in my account after dispatching and it took over a week to get there. Unless eBay now choose to take those funds out of my current balance. The item was sold for £9.25.

No, this is a simple delivery item, seller has no contract with the courier - ebay take full responsibility.

Both buyer and seller should not lose out, which is what I think has happened according to the post before mine. r

If your account has a solid history ebay will release the funds immediately, if not they release the funds after delivery. You are protected against loss or damage so as long as the buyer communicated 'damaged in transit' you have nothing to worry about. Your only concern was if the buyer said the item was received faulty but the packaging intact. In any case you are not evri's customer as ebay arranged the courier.
For low(ish) value items ebay will probably just take the hit, higher value items they will claim against evri.
