Morning all, thanks for today's start @Gers and also @-taff for the daily carol.
It's another dry day here (yay, that's two in a row!) with sunny intervals (albeit of the wintry variety), a moderate breeze and temperatures maybe getting up to 11 deg but feeling a couple of degrees lower than that. Good news, our hosepipe ban has finally ended after five months so we've obviously had a lot of rain.
Yesterday I trekked along to the CS with my donations and had a browse around. I came home with 3 more jigsaw puzzles but nothing else took my fancy. I think there was a chap hunting for potential treasures - he seemed to be looking for makers' marks on ceramics and glassware, taking photos and googling them. Since everything ended up back on the shelves, I'm guessing he didn't find anything. It was a wild and windy walk back home that really tired me out so not much done after that.
Since the weather forecast is for yet more rain after today, I'm popping out to the local shop, mainly for the double TV guide and milk. My NDN is having a new boiler fitted and I've been treated to much banging and drilling since 8.30 am and it's still not finished, so it's an excuse to escape from the noise. Easy tea tonight of gammon, egg & chips.
DS rang yesterday from Rio airport to say they'd landed safely after a long and bumpy flight. From there they were taking a connecting flight to their final destination, another hour in the air; he rang again later to say they had arrived and had been lucky as flights had been grounded not long after they took off due to a tropical storm. Much as he loves travelling, he hates flying so, not surprisingly, sounded rather stressed out. He'll be OK once he's caught up on some sleep. I hope.
@Chrisca - That really was a clumsy day! Sorry, I didn't mean to but I had to laugh at your pineapple top haircut. I think we've all been there at some stage or other. I don't know what it is, but hairdressers seem to struggle with the concept of just what "a little trim please" means. And they must have magic mirrors too, it never looks the same once you get home.
@Gers - I'm sure your accountant will make sense of the HMRC complexities or at least I hope he does! And what a nice chap your dish guy is for making sure the lady got to see the last episode of Shetland and turning out in awful weather conditions for small recompense.
@AA - Hope the fabric you need is in stock so you can catch up on your orders.
@Izzy - Bless, you still haven't learned the art of saying No, have you? X Me and technology? Baby steps, my dear, baby steps.
@dp1 - I'm so sorry to hear LO is going to miss all the school festivities; I know she's used to hospitals but I really hope she's able to go back home very soon.
@-taff - Fab to get a tax rebate but not so fab having to contend with Gateway in order to get it!
@Ruby - Glad your meeting went well yesterday, hopefully today's will be just as good. Whatever you decide, take your time.
Have a good day all, remember to pace yourself with all the 'busyness' and take care. Special hugs for the not so well ones with healing wishes for swift recoveries. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8
