BG 19 months later
Hi, we left BG due to horrendous inconsistencies with whay we owed - literally one day the app said £300' the next day it was over £16000. Anyway we voted with our feet and left April 2024. No communications since. This week I receieved a survwy asking why we left AND a bill for £400 for energy used April to May 2024. When I queried the 12 month rule, they said 'the billing has been under review and because we are out of the 6 week notice period we have knocked off £26'.
Where do we stand? I have escalated it but we know how this usually ends - them selling the bill to a debt agency. Any advice gratefully received. It's not the paying that is the problem it the shock bill due to their incompetence.

As long as you provided meter readings when you left in April, and haven't had any payment demands since (or notification of a 'billing review') then you should be covered by the 12 month back-billing rules.
Follow the steps here to tell them to get lost, and then complain to OFGEM if they won't leave you alone.

I hope you are right. Thank you for replying.1
