Morning Everyone
Thanks for the start Gers, hope you're safe from the storm.
It was very rough out last night, will need to check if the recycling bin is still there, I put it out last night as it's collection day today.
I'm going into school first thing, will probably end up staying most of the day, need to check what we have for the parties next week.
Lots of little jobs done yesterday before watching the last of the Shetland series with Jimmy Perez in, will start the new series some time.
Hope the little one is ok dp1 and she can enjoy the last week or so of school.
Sorry to hear you have gout Ruby.
Hugs to those in need.
Take care. XX12 -
No power cut last night, thank goodness. The wind really ramped up in the late evening and then howled all night. Rain battered down too. It's still going now. My Freesat TV went off early on, it faces the west where the storm was coming from, Freeview stayed on downstairs but isn't connected upstairs. All in all, it could have been much worse. Hairiest part was high tide which made various areas under water and impassable.I went out early yesterday to pick up some milk and so on. The rest of my day was spent sorting another kitchen cupboard, more space now. A big parcel arrived from my cousin in Berlin, it's full of Christmas goodies, far too much for me these days, I'll need to redistribute some. The hospital sent me a an appointment for pre-op assessment for a week on Friday, three days before the op.My cleaner is coming this morning, I've cancelled him the last twice so the place needs a good going over. I'll take my cleaner sheets to the laundry for ironing. They have a huge rolling iironing machine which makes short work of it. Then I have defrosted pork belly strips to roast. I'll enjoy them with some of the new fiery mustard.I hope that your little one is on the mend @DP1. Hugs to all our poorlies and those who are sad. 💕13

Good morning, thanks Gers.
Seems dry here but I hope the wind has dropped a bit - when we were going to the quiz last night 3 of us were holding on to each other, it felt like we were going to get blown over.
I'm going to Dob*ies this morning to meet a friend, and we'll have a look round after our coffee, it's always nice at Christmas there.
Sorry to hear you've got gout Ruby.
Hope the little one is ok Dp1.
Take care today folks if it's windy still, don't get blown away.14 -
Morning allGlad you survived the storm Gers. These dark mornings seem to go on forever but at least I don't have to drive to work in them any more!Nothing planned today except a bit of housework and hairdresser coming later. This should make you laugh. DH bought a diagnostic tool for his car. The screen seemed to have a blister so I contacted the company who asked for a picture and proof of purchase etc. They then came back and asked for a video of it turned on etc which was a waste of time as the blister never showed up when the screen was on. They came back again and asked if the protective film had been taken off the screen. One red face later, problem solved!!Have a good day all x13

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope the storm soon passes on where you are.. The storm passed through here reasonably quickly but sadly I mistimed my bus trip into town. Waiting at the bus stop the rain suddenly hammered down in torrents and I was like a drowned rat by the time the bus arrived.
It was a better day for DF and her DH so we met up as planned for lunch.. But she looked as dishevelled as me having been caught in the sudden heavy downpour whilst taking little dog out. I had gone down a bit before our meet up as I had meds to collect and odd bits from here and there. Unfortunately my Christmas jumper search didn't pay off as everything I liked only had big sizes left. Grr. I "robbed" the bank of the money for the 8 Christmas envelopes (gt nephews and nieces) more money for middle DGD and 2 gift cards. An expensive morning!
This morning hairdresser is coming (short notice brought forward from next week) and hopefully RM will deliver my parcel of stocking fillers. They will then be wrapped this afternoon and also the money envelopes filled.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. A wave to our MIA hope you still reading along but just taking a break from posting. Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning all
Hope everyone is safe from the storm - we were’t even anywhere near the warning areas but it was very windy. I battled across town after work carrying a large gift bag and rolls of wrapping paper and felt like Mary Poppins!
Thankfully it’s calmer today - I’m off to Llangollen to meet friends for lunch, We always now go to the same place, even booking the same table - very unadventurous but we like the food and there’s a great view of the river.Hope all is well with poorlies and there’s some good news from DP1

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers I’m glad the storm wasn’t too bad for you. Good that you have a pre-op date sorted x
Belated Happy Birthday to @-taff and Happy Birthday to MrTaff for today x
Enjoyed my work day yesterday - busy and productive. Hoping for more today. I’m doing 3 days this week as a colleague is off. I still haven’t written a single Christmas card or done any wrapping, so will start that after work. I also need to call my Dad who has had earthquakes and a tornado….in Cyprus! 😳
We went to the Canterbury panto last night - very good production and lovely that the cast invited the backstage crew on for applause at the end.Sorry to hear it’s gout @RedRuby1231 can you control with diet?Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2026 founding member 😊 Read 26 books in 2026 18/26 Currently

Morning all from a wet NW. I don't think I posted yesterday so belated Happy Birthday @-taff , hope you had a good day and same for OH today.Hope L.o is doing ok @dp1The heating didn't come on yesterday as the pressure in the boiler dropped so we had to check if any radiators had leaked, found quite a puddle behind the sofa in the kitchen diner. DH had to go and buy a new valve and fit it, which took a while as he couldn't really kneel on his new knee for long enough so sat on a chair and couldn't see that well. Anyway all done now and working fine. He also went to the tip with a couple of manky old rugs which we'll never use, don't know why we kept them!I had a good chat with my oldest friend, she's coming down today and we'll go to the little Italian at lunchtime, so I'd better get pooch out for his walk, think it's stopped raining for a bit.Wishing you all a good day

Morning all from blustery and wet Mehefinland
All the birthday peeps at this time of year get a rough deal - DS was born New Years Eve so know all about it. A friend had a child on Xmas day so had a half birthday for him in June every year which I thought was an excellent idea. Not the same when you are older I know, but a good suggestion none the less. My Mum was January and always said she was going to be like the Queen and have a second birthday in the summer too
Fairy managed somehow to get into the other side of the field ( I cannot see how she did it) and of course, Showman is standing there with that innocent look on his face as if to say 'it wasn't me.. she's the naughty one'. Then I had to try and get the little s o d back to the right side - that is an epistle in itself !! All sorted eventually and she came galloping into the barn knowing she was in disgrace. They can be so funny sometimes - if they could only speak!!
Missed the worst of the weather in my little corner of S Wales, although the rain showers are hard and vicious and seem to come from nowhere - just missed one at 7 this morning as I got to the field. Blue sky at the moment and Mr Moon is high in the sky - can just see it from the window as I type,
Big river delivery day today so a bit of hanging about - bet they come when I'm doing something with the animals.
Hugs and spoons as always. DP's little on very much in my thoughts.

Morning alll! Thank you for the birthday wishes, OH says thank you for his too. Re todays carol I think I'll spend the rest of the day sinigng five gold rings in my head
I spent my day decorating the tree, where more is more for me...I did decide to give way some baubles and a garland, so someone on freecycle will be happy with that..And we went out for a meal which was lovely. Today he wants to go to town to get a new phone as his is quite old and playing up after an update [ no surprise there] , he hasn't said if he wants to do anything else but with a boot on,it's difficult to venture far. Food is the brisket I cooked on Monday with half a bottle of wine in it, I'd used it for something else but it had sat there for a few weeks, so I chucked it in, and I must say, makes a really nice gravy. One large yorkie each, some mash and a veg and that's supper sorted. Nelski suggested I make them before, and I hadn't made one for ages, so shout out to Nels wherever you are for that...Ruby, what a pain, literally! I hope you can be treated quickly! NRA, you have joined the legion of Christmas bopping around while wrapping, or cooking, or cleaning
Izzy, I love the idea of grandparents doing things that could get them arrested now...I bet they never thought they were that subversive
Your story reminds me, me and my friend used to go to the country park for a long walk at the end of every school holiday, light a fire, cook some potatoes and have them with salt and butter. Best potatoes I ever tasted but again, as you say, we'd probably be arrested for that now...Yorkslass, well done on finding things where you put them! Well done joining the digital revolution
nancy, have you sorted out your roommates yet? new year, new attitude maybe? camelot, don't go doing too muh though! Gers [and camelot] sounds horrendous weather with you, hope the new mustard does the trick! Chris, that reminds me of the guy that complained his pizza had no topping, then was told to turn it over
TA, sorry you both got caght in the rain, this weather is a sneaky so and so at the moment, you never know what it's doing one minute ot the next! Allie, have a lovely lunch, re food and places, but when you find something good, best to use it isn't it...Coxy, glad your enjoying your new job, and the panto was good! Hope your father is safe too, sounds a bit scary...Rosy, have al lovely lunch you too! Take care all, watch out for the weather!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13
