in Credit cards
My husband died in June 2025. I have noticed that he paid a deposit of £1665 for a holiday for May 2026 using his Barclaycard. He had not sorted out travel insurance, but I wondered if I could claim the deposit back from Barclaycard as I am no longer able to take this holiday.
Thank you

Sorry for you loss
Sadly not.
Only if the company went bust & closed down would there be any chance of a claim. Not 100% sure on that either due to the party paying no longer being around.
Being unable to take a holiday is not a valid reason to claim the money back via the CC.
You could contact holiday company & ask them. Which they do need advising that the booking party is deceased.Life in the slow lane0 -
Was it a package with one of the well-known holiday companies?
I'd be very surprised if they didn't, given the circumstances, let you cancel with a credit note for the refund if not a full cash refund.0 -
Only if you can show they have breached the contract.Pink_Daffodil_2025 said:My husband died in June 2025. Speak to whoever sold them the holiday, they may make exceptions to the normal no cancellation in the case of a bereavement, though they have no legal obligation to do so.0 -
Unfortunately you have no valid claim against the credit card company, since the holiday provider has not breached the terms of their contract - the holiday is still available. As others have said, it would be well worth contacting the holiday company. They may make a full or partial refund as a goodwill gesture or on compassionate grounds, though they are under no obligation to do so.0
