Credit Card claim

My husband died in June 2025. I have noticed that he paid a deposit of £1665 for a holiday for May 2026 using his Barclaycard.  He had not sorted out travel insurance, but I wondered if I could claim the deposit back from Barclaycard as I am no longer able to take this holiday.
Thank you

    Sorry for you loss
    Sadly not.
Only if the company went bust & closed down would there be any chance of a claim. Not 100% sure on that either due to the party paying no longer being around.
Being unable to take a holiday is not a valid reason to claim the money back via the CC.

You could contact holiday company & ask them. Which they do need advising that the booking party is deceased.

Was it a package with one of the well-known holiday companies?

I'd be very surprised if they didn't, given the circumstances, let you cancel with a credit note for the refund if not a full cash refund.

Only if you can show they have breached the contract.

Speak to whoever sold them the holiday, they may make exceptions to the normal no cancellation in the case of a bereavement, though they have no legal obligation to do so.

Unfortunately you have no valid claim against the credit card company, since the holiday provider has not breached the terms of their contract - the holiday is still available.
As others have said, it would be well worth contacting the holiday company.  They may make a full or partial refund as a goodwill gesture or on compassionate grounds, though they are under no obligation to do so.
