Hi there,
My father (79 years old) over stated at a service station by 20mins and received a fine. Without my knowledge he already appealed on the basis of him feeling unwell and being unfit to drive. This got rejected and now they are asking for £170. He spoke to the duty manager at the service station who suggested to appeal via Popla.

I was going to do this citing him being unwell and that he had no other option but to wait til he felt better before returning to the road.
Is there anything else you’d recommend?

The manager can ask for the charge ( note I said charge - it's not a fine ) to be cancelled.
Failing that read the newbies thread and see what applies.
Is your father a blue badge holder or anything like that?3 -

Nope he’s not a blue badge holder. He just happened to feel very unwell. He went to get some painkillers from the service station and rested tik he felt better.DE_612183 said:The manager can ask for the charge ( note I said charge - it's not a fine ) to be cancelled.

Its only worth appealing a pcn if there are good legal reasons to dispute it, ones that may be accepted by the private parking company or by the second stage appeal stage
But it's down to you both what you do or dont do, we provide advice and point people at the information and advice, like the MSE advice, and the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum
The landowner may accept the mitigating factors, as might a judge in civil court, so plan A is always the best option, hence getting the manager or landowner to intervene0 -
Yes because you missed the POPLA window. But if Dad will worry, I'd email the scammers as him, giving your postal address for service.tuts4u said:
