When did the debt default and when did you lat make payment? Could the debt be statute-barred?
Barclays raising your credit limit does not put you into debt.thebakers said:I have not paid anything from the debt since before covid as i was trying to win a case with barclays over then rasing my crrdit limit to over 6k and puttimg me in unaffordable debt

When exactly did you last pay anything?
What exactly was the debt, bank account, loan, credit card?If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
Last payment pre covid
Credit card from over a decace ago

You need to know exactly when the last payment was.
Reason is to work out if it is statute barred, if you live in England or Wales its 6 years from last payment or acknowledgment, if you live in Scotland it's 5 years.
My guess it is approaching 6 years and that is why it has been brought up now.If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
The letter you received from the solicitors, was it headed something like Letter Before Claim/Action? Did it have any attachments, including one headed Reply Form?
The DFW board https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/debt-free-wannabe may be a better place to discuss this and any other debts that you have, including any others you havent been paying.0
