Open University Library Facilities

Hi - I am thinking about doing a short open university course, but am hoping to find out other peoples experiences with their online library facilities.
I am currently working a very boring day job while saving money to go and do a masters in Anthropology/public health in September 2006. So I dont rot away with boredom I am thinking about doing a diploma in sustainability and development with the OU. Its a great passion of mine and I miss studying alot :D . However, one of the other bonuses of doing the course would be the access to the online library - someone told me that not only would I get access to articles on environmental issues but also on everything else as well? Is this true? This would definately be the crunch point for me as it would mean I could use the library in the essays I am writing to apply for funding for my masters - which is in a slightly different subject.
Am hoping to find out what other people thought of the library facilities?
Is it true that you can access all subjects not just the one your studying?
Are the journals very up to date?
Is it difficult to use?
Any comments much appreciated - thankyou!! :D
I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!
Money to raise for tuition fees: £3000
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!!

you should get an athens password which is exactly what every other university student in the uk has in order to access journals and online books - so yes you'd be able to access all articles for any subject using journal archives like JSTOR (my personal favourite as a history student)
