Just bought one and my son assembled it in less than 10 mins - looks good and is pretty comfy to sit in - nice for the money that's for sure - and certainly similar to the Ikea chairs..

    Thanks again OP!!:j

Is this picture of the ASDA chair or the IKEA one. I saw these last week and haven't been able to find a picture of the ASDA one online. If this is the ASDA one then they are indeed identical.
    Cheers,
    Ian.

This picture is the ikea one, but the asda one is identical, same cream stripe effect cover, head rest flap, wood frame etc.
I added some rectangular cushions from matalan, and it is very comfy - great for a bedroom etc. They are actually bigger than I thought, so very substantial. They rock a little like the ikea ones too.
I can try to photograph the box and post it here, but I think the box is out at the bin - oh I could photograph my actual chairs!

They also had some nice wee pieces of furniture - a nice hall table with a couple of drawers in oak - £45.

Glad these were useful to someone, I have been planning buying these from ikea for months, but now I can afford 2 for the price of one ikea chair.

It's a shame Asda don't do the little footstools that Ikea do...and that I don't have room for one.

I bought one this afternoon and can now say that it is less comfortable than an Ikea Poang chair. Tha Asda version has a metal internal frame whereas the Ikea one has a wooden one, the frame on the Asda one digs into the back of your legs a bit.
BUT, if you look at page 49 of the Ikea catalogue, in the botton RH corner there is a chair called PELLO at £39. This is the chair the Asda one is a copy of, but even this doesn't have the metal frame.

So at £30 the Asda one is good value but if I could have tried one out first I would have paid the extra and got a Poang. It is worth remembering that the Poang comes with a 25 YEAR guarantee whereas the Asda chair comes with a 28 DAY money back guarantee :rotfl:.
If you do get one, they are simple to put together if a bit fiddly. When installing the headrest put it in leaning forward, you'll see what I mean when you have it in front of you. I put mine in facing back and your head goes too far back but it means stripping the chair down to correct it.
    Hope this all helps,
    Ian.

    Hello Mike,
Yes you're right, I hadn't seen that. In that case I would say they are pretty much the same chair, although they look slightly different under the cushion. Don't forget to have the headrest sloping forward, it isn't clear in the instructions, or at least try one that way and if you prefer it the other way you only have one to turn round.

There were a lot of these in Asda Canterbury today. To those of you worried the lack of matching footstool, I have got a square cream footstool from Ikea that cost me £9 or £10 I think. It is the same material and colour as the chair (as far as I can see!). So, if you buy the Asda chair and foot stool, it is still only £40!

These aren't very sturdy by the way.

    Just so you know.
