Our buyer needs to complete before 11th December. We agreed on 10th.
We still haven't exchanged contracts as buyers solicitor has gone on leave & not told her replacement of the date
As we booked & paid for removals company, if we postpone it will be another £850.
Chances of getting this paid by from buyers solicitor??????
Very unprofessional of them
UPDATE -. Completion being met

Why have you booked and paid for your removals before you have a confirmed completion date?5

Their solicitor wanted a confirmed date of 10th for completion.
As December is busy, we had to get the date booked

Nothing's confirmed until exchange though. Why aren't your buyers telling their solicitors to get their finger out?1

Don't book anything until you have exchanged. They could yet pull out of the deal.1

If the buyer was 100% committed and confirmed on the sale then they would exchange. There's no middle ground where you haven't exchanged but you have a confirmed sale creating a liability if they fail to meet the date.0

Hope you've exchanged already and on track... As to the question, there's nothing binding until you exchange.I'm FTB, not an expert, all my comments are from personal experience and not a professional advice.Mortgage debt start date = 11/2024 = 175k (5.19% interest rate, 20 year term)
