Hello. I need some advice. I switched my electricity supplier 12 months ago from EDF to Octopus. At that time EDF were supplied with a correct meter reading. I have been with Octopus quite happily. I have recently received an email from EDF telling me my account is in credit. It is only £29 but its still money of mine that they have had for 12 months. I emailed them and requested that they refund the money to me. It took them a month to reply and they are asking for a current meter reading before they can refund the money!? I have explained to them that they were in receipt of a correct final reading at the time of the switch but they are still asking for a current meter reading. How can a current meter reading be significant? Why do they need this? Any thoughts would be gratefully received. It is only a small amount of money but they have had it for long enough I think.

Possible £40+£40 = £80 compensation or £30+£30 = £60 if EDF argue breaches occurred before 2 January 2025.
When did EDF issue final bill?
