Address Lookup Issue

Has anybody on this Techie Stuff forum had an issue with some comparison sites, not being able to find your house number of your Full Address, you can find the postcode, but not your specific house number?
Even on Cheap Energy Club, I have had problems using the Address Lookup, I've also had the same problem on MoneySuperMarket as well.
I have already checked with my Electrical supplier and National Grid and they have confirmed my Full Address has been fully registered and they can find no fault.

So can one of your technical bods sort this out, I have already missed out on the recent British Gas  energy deal, using Cheap Energy Club.
Cheers

  • Does the Royal Mail postcode finder show your address?

If not, call into your council offices and ask them. It is the council who deal with it in the first instance.
  • Hi Frozen_up_north,

Thank you for your reply and advise,
I have now checked the royal Mail postcode finder and my full address has been registered.

However, I have just processed a search on MSE's Cheap Energy Club using my Postcode and there is a mixture of several roads and addresses being retrieved which is clearly not correct. I have checked both roads on Postcode finder and they are totally different postcodes, so should only see my road
I have now emailed MSE customer services again with an image of my detective work, showing there is clearly something amiss
Thank you again for your advice

I wonder if your problem is out of date sat navs? We have a lane that runs alongside the rear of the house and some drivers get lost as the road starts with one name - changes in the middle as it goes through an ancient township for a about 150 yds and then reverts back to the first name.
Some sat navs do not recognise thei and just to help both roads have some duplicate house numbers. It is not as bad as it used to be but then the Post Office and Estate Agents do not always agree with each other and so confuse the issue further. There are houses not far away theat eestate agents describe as being in an area over a mile away.
We used to joke at one time that if an estate agent could screw a bit more cash they would describe a house in Glasgow as being in easy commuting distance with London
  • The East Riding Council have a pothole reporting page that brings up a very detailed map, you might like to check your street on it. The postcode lookup only works for the East Riding, but the map covers the whole country in great detail.
