An electric shower is ok if you shower during off peak rate
But if the OP doesn't then the lowest energy cost option would be a shower fed from the tank.

Unfortunately there may need to be a fair bit of plumbing work done to achieve that, possibly including the addition of a pump for the hot water.

I do often wonder if the folk who suggest "just boil a kettle" have tried it for any length of time - I can't say that plodding about the place with kettles of hot water is something I want to do first thing in the morning just to be able to wash my face!  Cheaper, very possibly, but at the expense of too much quality of life for my taste!

16 years and counting. Running the hot tap long enough to get hot water to the kitchen sink would have filled the kettle about 4 times. At least with the kettle method it's instant hot water.

We're not quite at the stage of suggesting one of these for the kitchen, are we?

I asked if hot water was just for dishes and if so to use a kettle. My kitchen sink is quite close to my kettle.

Not everyone uses the hot tap in the bathroom to wash hands / face etc, which is why I asked for the further detail.

I've behaved in a similar manner for years. The sink I would use for 'washing my face' in the morning is in fact used for shaving, having been filled by the shower head from the electric shower. That cost me the price of a 2m shower hose. Because our water is so hard, I have to use Brita-filtered water for the kettle, and I'm too cheap to do that for washing-up water. I just part-fill a 10l bucket at the shower and carry that to the kitchen to do my once-or-twice-a-week washing up.

[The electric shower is about 5 years old. It's part of the landlord's furniture, so I'm not really responsible for its maintenance. It will probably have acquired a tidy internal coat of fur by now, but I'm not going to grumble until I notice a degradation in performance.]
    I'm not being lazy ...
    I'm just in energy-saving mode.

If it was my setup I'd get an electrician in to fit changeover switch for the top immersion so I could could heat the top part of tank only with nighttime E7 rate or daytime rate according to my needs. Then also a switch for bottom immersion so that it only heats the whole tank if need it.
