House title plan includes part of a public footpath and road

We have recieved a title plan for the house we are buying and it includes part of a public footpath and road within the house boundary. The road is adopted by the council. I have raised concerns with my solicitor who has said it seems normal but cannot confirm until the searches are back. It doesnt seem right to me. We are wondering if we would be liable for anything. Is anyone able to shed any light on this?

It is not unusual for each property to own the land to the centre of the highway. If the highway has been adopted by the LA, then that land is also within highway extents and taken care of by the LA.Sellars93 said:We have recieved a title plan for the house we are buying and it includes part of a public footpath and road within the house boundary. Perfectly normal. If the road is adopted then your "ownership" of it is for all practical purposes irrelevant, it's the council who are in charge of it.2
