Transfer balance cards

Hello! Seeking advice for my friend 😊. Her husband and several credit cards, all have money owed on them but he’s being charged interest. He tried opening a balance transfer card to lighten the load of the interest but a quick check on the MSE checker showed he is ineligible to apply for one as he is retired on ill health. We did find out his wife is eligible for the top balance transfer card from Barclaycard and we were wondering is there any way of shifting some of his debt onto a card in her name? Or any other ways he could reduce the interest on his debt balance? Thank you

Usually, if done online, it's possible to transfer a balance from another person's CC, not even a relative.1

Make sure he cancels any cards once the balance is transferred from them, or the cycle repeats and the debt builds."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0

The T&Cs normally state you cannot transfer someone else's debt, in pre-Open Banking days they had to simply rely on you following the terms but since OpenBanking they can actually check who's name the card is in and enforce the rules.grumpy_codger said:Usually, if done online, it's possible to transfer a balance from another person's CC, not even a relative.
Have had several attempts to switch debt between wife and I blocked in recent years because of this but have also had others go through so its very much bank dependent as some haven't implemented checks.1 -
There is a workaround, do a 0% money transfer then use the cash to pay off the husband's card. The money might first need to be transferred into an account in the husband's name.
Later down the line she can then do a standard 0% BT, offer and fee dependant.0
