Duplicate Parking Fine at LoC Stage

I have been issued a parking fine by G24 Ltd and it is now at the letter of claim stage with dcb legal. I believe I have been fined twice for the same contravention. I have paid one of the fines and disregarded the other as I thought it was sent by mistake. Both PCN refs are almost identical (differing in the last digit only - one ends in ‘01’ and the other in ‘03’). I only have a copy of one of the fine letters saved. The contraventions were in the same car park on the same date with reason ‘parked outside a marked bay’. The letter of claim (and bailiff letter before that) allowed me to verify the previously disregarded contravention info (but no pictures with time stamps were included).

Please advise. I’m 99% certain this was a duplication in error but as I don’t have a copy of one of the fine letters I cannot be 100% certain.

There was no fine and no bailiff letter.
I have paid one of the fines
That's a huge shame. Please never do that again, all the time that this rogue industry is unregulated. Nobody here ever pays these scam invoices. These aren't fines.

Why not just email a complaint to G24?

  • I have successfully avoided paying before but on this instance it was only £40 if paid within 14 days so I did it to save any hassle. Or at least I thought that would have been the case!

I would like to see evidence so I can be certain it’s an error on their part although I’m pretty sure it is. I will email G24 to complain as you suggest but do you think it’s worth robustly responding to the ‘solicitor’ as well?

Would G24 even look at it at this stage?

G24 have to follow a complaints policy and yes you should show your evidence to the solicitor too.
