    The question is whether it failed due to (a) poor manufacture or (b) external damage to the hydraulic cylinder. Within the first 6 months, the assumption is (a) and its on them to fix or prove otherwise. Between 6 months and 2 years, the assumption is (b) and its on you to prove otherwise via an independent assessor. If you're found to be correct, then they should indemnify you ie replace / repair / refund (less usage) on the chair and reimburse the cost of the assessment.
