Discovery+ Cancellation issue!
Of course, I should have paid more attention to the email and read a bit closer. Having just checked my bank account and seen another month's £25.49 taken out, I logged on to my Discovery+ account to see, to my horror, that the cancellation is not until 1.11.26 - a whole year!
Having immediately negotiated my path through the jungle of Discover+ bots on their website and customer service's menus, I eventually managed to speak to a person on the telephone. She said that she would pass my request to their 'advanced management team' to see if they would consider cancelling the monthly deductions for the next year.
Again, maybe I've been remiss in not reading all of the small print (or understanding what I did read), but a monthly subscription to my thinking is not a yearly subscription.
Has anyone else been caught out by this, and if so did you manage to get it resolved amicably?

Here's what it reads on the website when you enter your payments:
"Your subscription will automatically renew each month at the then-current monthly price (now £30.99/month, applicable taxes included) on a recurring basis unless you cancel before renewal. All prices include any applicable taxes. To cancel, go to Settings > Subscription. If you cancel before renewal, you will have access until the end of your current billing period.
When you select "Buy now" and complete your transaction, you agree that, once your new subscription begins, you can access your discovery+ subscription immediately and acknowledge that you will lose any applicable statutory right to a refund if you cancel in the cooling off period."
That final sentence sounds ominous !

Bit odd this, Discovery + haven't offered annual subscriptions since early 2025, all their subs are now monthly in advance.
The plan that includes TNT Sports costs £30.99/mth so doesn't agree with your pricing - was your deal through your broadband TV supplier (BT? Sky?) or via the Amazon platform? Or somewhere else?1 -
Looking at that price it would suggest you have taken an offer for 12 months at a decent discount from the usual monthly fee of £30.99
It is entirely normal to commit to 12 months and pay monthly.
You'll have to re-read exactly what you signed up for, I doubt you have been "caught out", just that you haven't understood what you were signing up to.2 -
Thank you for the replies above. Yes, it looks as if the plan I signed up to, via the Discovery+ website in November, is indeed a special offer (with strings attached) Urrrgh!
I've access my account and the 'change details section' and found this:"Offer available to the first 25,000 customers or until 25-11-25, whichever comes first. 2025-26 events in sports plans. Savings based on the yearly instalment plan price vs. the regular monthly plan price paid over 12 months. Auto-renews yearly unless cancelled (incl VAT). You lose your cancellation and refund right if you request immediate access to your subscription. Cancel via account settings and retain access until the end of the yearly plan. Unpaid monthly billing instalments will remain payable for the remainder of your current yearly plan. All plans include ads, sponsorships and promotions. See terms of Use. For tech requirements, visit our..."
This is the first sports TV package I've signed up to and I've obviously not sufficiently understood the details - Mia culpa, and double drat!1 -

Not sure why you thought otherwise?0 -
TBF, there are no adverts during the actual playing halves of a football or rugby game.Neil_Jones said:This is no different to every other streaming service, live channels have adverts. Not sure why you thought otherwise?
Between overs during a test match is absolutely teeth-grindingly annoying but as you say, seen as normal now that the only live sport on the BBC is Wimbledon.0 -
Well thanks Neil, such a helpful positive contribution to this topic and question. If you hadn't anything helpful to add I wonder why you even bothered to post. You have a lovely day now.Neil_Jones said:Harry227 said:
