    Because Nissan wrote the warranty.  It covers degradation of the battery only, not total failure, because that's what Nissan wrote.
    Yes this.  When we were looking for an EV two years ago this came up multiple times along with rapidgate.

    On the other hand, the battery is so simple (no cooling, air-con, etc) - it's literally two plugs and a load of bolts - that upgrading has become common.  Getting hold of a serviceable battery should not be hard - and OGS did the replacement in two hours.
