Argos Sainsburys Home Delivery Failure – Driver Claims Delivery, But No Parcel and No Refund!

I wanted to share my recent experience with Argos home delivery and see if anyone else has been through something similar.

I ordered an item during the Black Friday sales for my son’s Christmas present. It was due to be delivered on a Sunday evening. I stayed in for the delivery and at around 9:20pm I received a notification saying my driver was three minutes away. I waited for almost an hour, but no one showed up.

The next morning, I checked the tracking only to find the delivery marked as completed. I called Argos straight away and explained that the driver definitely hadn’t been to my property. I have Ring cameras covering the entrance, so I can clearly see if anyone comes to the door – and nobody did.

Despite this, I was told that Argos needed to wait for confirmation from the driver and start an internal investigation before they could issue a refund or send replacement goods. I’m now nearly two weeks on from the original delivery date. I still haven’t received a refund, and I’m not allowed a replacement because they’re still waiting for the driver to respond.

I chased again today and was told they still haven’t managed to speak to the driver due to shift work. Their investigation window is supposed to be seven days, but apparently that might be delayed because of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

I’ve never had this happen with any other delivery company. As far as I can see, the driver either delivered the item to the wrong address or took it – yet I’m the one stuck without the goods, without a refund, and unable to buy the present elsewhere while they “investigate”.

At this point, I’m posting to raise awareness that Argos/Sainsbury’s delivery system seems flawed and the customer service process doesn’t feel fair or customer-focused at all.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with Argos home deliveries?
I’d really appreciate hearing from others—whether you managed to get it resolved and how long it took.

  • Complain to Head Office OP, personally I'd send an old fashioned letter (brief, to the point and polite) save another stamp down the line might as well make it a letter before action (templates on Google from sites such as CAB or Which).

If you have evidence from your Ring doorbell they are going to find it hard to defend such a claim.
