Possibly, possibly not. Gas is expected to fall 5-6% from the end of Nov 2025 to the end of Jan 2026, but electricity prices are expected to rise 5% over the same period.northernstar007 said:as the topic says the wholesale gas prices are falling by the day

Many fixes will have already factored that into their pricing, which is why they were for the last few months and are still now below the price cap figures.1 -
i'm currently on a fix with no exit fees 5.5p gas & 23.9p for electric fixed till 1st sept 26
i'm very tempted jumping back on octopus tracker with current prices being a lot cheaper0 -

i'm very tempted jumping back on octopus tracker with current prices being a lot cheaperI managed to switch onto the November v3 fix before it vanished and went back to v2.Tracker is always going to be better when the changes are short term, the fixes depend on a 12 month time horizon so short term drops don't always get reflected as quickly.Either way this will be my last winter on gas, as we'll be on an ASHP before next winter.

To a large extent, the big energy suppliers bypass the wholesale markets. They go to their suppliers and agree long-term fixed prices. That's how they can offer their customers long term fixed price deals. The energy suppliers that don't do that go bust the first time that the wholesale prices for energy go up.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1
