Monzo business banking will start to charge in 2026

Just switched from Santander to Monzo for our business banking as Santander are now charging. The switch to Monzo was very easy but unfortunately we've just discovered Monzo will start charging for bank transfers in 2026.......so the charges for us will potentially be worse than the monthly charge Santander have implemented. This is really frustrating. On the way to Monzo we tried Coop, which was a terrible experience so we abandoned. Is there going to be any account left that is actually free to use, i.e. no monthly fee, and free for bank transfers?

Others are Mettle (by NatWest) or HSBC (they recently just went from paid to free so unlikely they'd changed back so fast)

Where have you heard this? I can't find anything in Monzo about this. Can you post a link?

The basic version of Monzo (Monzo Lite) has always been free. There is a monthly charge for Monzo Pro and Monzo Team. All plans allow bank transfers within the UK for free.

I’ve just opened a Monzo account and saw that easy bank transfers say “free until 2026” so I suspect they will be charged for, qr payment links etc. This is for the free lite account.

That's easy bank transfers which are different to bank transfers. Normal bank transfers aren't charged and will remain free for Lite customers.

Easy bank transfers are where you send a connection message to a customer's bank account and they can approve or reject the payment through this message, so it makes it a bit easier for customers to pay invoices. This will be charged from 2026.
