EDF FIT Readings Web Page Changed Again
I usually give my FIT reading to EDF on the 1st of the month every 3 months.
Had the usual email from edf asking me to send FIT reading, takes you to a new web page now asking you to input account number and FIT Identity number.
Never had to input account number before and the Identity number isn't as before, you can't add any dashes or hyphens.
Anyway after completing form correctly and clicking on Next it comes up with....

Unable to contact server
Please wait a moment and then try again.
Have tried several times for the last couple of hours and still unable to send reading.
Anyone else having problems?

Yes. The same problem. The account number is the one from your electricity bill. I have no idea what to do if you don't have electricity bills from EDF.It looks like the FIT number has to be the letters "FIT", followed by 8 digits, and not as in the example above the box. Anything else will be rejected. But when the FIT is not rejected, you get the "Unable to contact server" message instead.Correction: Use the account number in the small print of the email, not your electricity bill.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
This was not working for me earlier but has just gone through ok now. Format FIT00123456 A-12345ABC1

Thanks for replies, I have now managed to get it to connect, didn't do anything different so assume it must be at EDF end.
I don't have my energy from EDF but they did give me an account number to use for FIT readings.0 -
Glad I opted to email them instead, or that would've wound me up.Submitting it via the website, used to generate a stupid warning, that my reading might be too high, or it might be too low, and made me angry every time.It seems that if tech/online systems don't work, it tries my patience just a tad.Hence the email method today. Received my statement about an hour later.0

I noticed the same when I followed the link earlier today. It was clearly a new form and not abundantly clear how to populate the fields (e.g. whole account number including prefix or without prefix) so I decided to respond by email with relevant details in freeform. To my surprise, I received an email several hours later accompanied by the usual statement of account showing generation and FIT payment due. This is definitely a first and I will follow this method in future. This email was followed up by another shortly thereafter requesting that I leave a review of the service I had received on Trustpilot. Again a first. I might wait before doing so just to see how quickly the funds are received.0

Having finally got the thing to work (as per my correction above), I now have the statement by email. There used to be a confirmation email of my reading, followed by a statement a few days later.Time to break out the memory stick again. EDF emailed me a few years ago to say I needed to keep records of all FIT meter readings and payments, in case I ever get audited. So I make sure I save everything onto my PC, and to a memory stick too. So far, I have never been audited. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
