conflicting damp reports - where do I stand

the initial survey done on behalf of the people buying our house recommended a damp & wood survey which said there was a moisture reading in the one bay window - we had a DPC put in 1o years ago & it is under guarantee so we contacted the original contractor who came with his probe & said there was no damp - he said you'll have moisture readings in most rooms, usually condensations & bays are the worst but there is no rising damp which is what a DPC is for. The buyers of our property want the DPC redone & our contractor says it isn't necessary. They also said there was a reading in the extension which is less than 9 years old & was built with those thermo blocks on the internal wall & also had a DPC which was passed by the local council building inspection as the extension was being built. we have no reached stalemate

Get in writing from the contractor what he said to you:
"You'll have moisture readings in most rooms, usually condensations & bays are the worst but there is no rising damp which is what a DPC is for."
If they dont take the view of the professionals tell them to pay the extra for a damp and wood survey to see for themselves! If they still mess about its upto you to guage whether the work is worth doing or not (maybe they want to use it as a basis to reduce the agreed price).0
