Parking ticket - help!

I got a parking ticket today in Glastonbury. I parked in an outlined bay with no signage visible. When I came back I had a ticket that said I’d parked in a red route or clearway (code 46). Every single car in the bay (about 7) had a ticket.
I had a walk around and saw no signage for a clearway, but about 3 cars up obscured by a hedge there was a sign saying it was a residential permit parking area. Not visible at all when I parked.
Is parking in a residents bay the same code as parking on a clearway? I feel like the fact everyone else had a ticket shows the signage wasn’t up to much, but is there any point in appealing? First parking ticket in 30 years of driving, bit gutted!
There was an event on, so I’ve looked online to see if there were temporary parking restrictions, but can’t find anything.

As its council, I suggest that you post your query over on the FTLA parking forum website after reading their posting requirements firstThe_Snorkmaiden said:BGr1pr said:

If they've used code 46 you could appeal that the contravention did not occur. But if an event was on there may be some of temporary clearway restriction, although it would be a bit odd for it to actually be a clearway rather than suspension of parking.
But still sounds like they should have used code 12 "parked in a residents' or shared use parking place or zone without a valid virtual permit or clearly displaying a valid physical permit or voucher."2 -
It cannot be both a clearway (red route) AND a resident's parking area else every resident would get a ticket every day!3
