Barclaycard, £1 Pending Transaction

I signed up for the Barclaycard for the free £25 but also find myself using it for online shopping because of the fraud protection.
The said however, I seem to have a £1 pending transaction on my account. I monitor my Barclaycard at least once a week because I used it for online shopping. I spotted the pending transaction, a payment I have not made, and contact Barclaycard straight away.
The person I spoke to told me it was an 'internal security check' and will be removed in the next 3 days. This seems somewhat unusual to me, I did try and ask for more information but was simply told not to worry about it.
I'm not so worried, will still keep and eye on it, but trying to work out why it is there?!

I've had one of these on my account once - and it went away rather than appearing on the account. I think that Barclaycard put these on themselves and are simply 'testing the line' in some way - as you have been informed.
The point about these pending items is that they are 'exact' amounts (i..e. you spend £5.63 and it adds exactly '5.63' to the 'pending' total. So a '1.00' doesn't look like any amount you would have spent and I would expect it to vanish after a day or so.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -

I have spent on the card but like you said I haven't spent £1 on anything and all my transaction I have made are now on my statement. Just seems an odd thing to do, its involved me contacting their support team taking up their time. Would anyone else in my position of avoided contacting them and simply wait to see what happens?0 -
The £1 transaction that you see is the company you are buying from checking that the card details you have entered are valid. The amount of £1 sits in authorisations, but after a period of time (4 to 5 working days) it will drop off and you will be none the wiser it has happened.
You will only be billed for the cost of the goods.

Have you bought any petrol and used pay at the pump?
Since most of these terminals are not linked up to chip and pin the system checks to see if they have been reported as lost or stolen by processing a £1 trial.
If everything is ok they take a chance on you having up to £60 fuel.0 -

Thank you very much, this sounds logical because I recently bought an item off amazon and the £1 pending appeared just as the item was being dispatched.0 -
Don't worry, I had those £1 pending transaction on my card from time to time, no harm has come out of it. As it was already said, it will disappear in a few days.
If any other small transaction that you've never made is seen as a pending transaction, and then go through as a proper transaction on your statement, then get worried as I can remember someone saying that sometimes
fraudsters "tests" the account with a small transaction before spending bigger amounts.0 -

Thats exactly what they said it was when I queried it on my john lewis partnership card, it happens from time to time and I just keep my eye on it and make sure I never get charged!finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0 -
I received my barclaycard today, and activated it over the phone with no problems.
I just set up an online account for it so I can check my balance online and I also have the £1 pending transaction on there.
Rang Barclaycard up, spoke to someone who asked if I was sure I hadn't made the transaction for £1!
She then went on to say that I need to leave it for now but keep checking my account to see if more details appear, or if it just disappears.
I'm starting to wonder if its something to do with when I requested the balance transfer...0
