Attendance allowance

I am 67 and after seeing my cardiologist and neurologist, they both advised that I should claim Attendance Allowance, which I had never heard of. Anyway, I put in a claim around a month ago and I have been awarded the lower rate of £73.90. On 17th November £73.90 appeared in my bank account with my NI number as reference, so that is all good and didn't take as long as I assumed. However just over a week has passed and no more payments. Should I be worried?

It's paid four weekly. So you will receive 4 x £73.90 around 15th Dec.2

Attendance allowance is paid 4 weekly like other benefits and pension so your next payment should appear on 15th December.1

The Gov web site says "Attendance Allowance is paid weekly at 2 different rates"
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
You'll get a letter confirming it at some point too0

It's only paid weekly if someone is terminally ill and it is awarded under special rules. Otherwise I have never known it be paid anything other than four weekly and I have helped hundreds of pensioners to claim it.Robin9 said:The Gov web site says "Attendance Allowance is paid weekly at 2 different rates"0 -
If you need help during the night you can claim the higher rate.
You can possibly have a blue badge for car parking. Also you might be able to get a reduction in Council tax, called "Disregard"1 -
It's calculated based on weeks (whereas UC is monthly, in contrast) but paid in 4-weekly chunks. Just like the State Pension and DLA and PIP etc.Robin9 said:The Gov web site says "Attendance Allowance is paid weekly at 2 different rates"0 -
I helped someone apply online recently. I noticed the number of questions had been reduced, they didn’t ask for a list of medications and it’s nearly all tick boxes. The person got their first payment in just over 2 weeks. That’s good news1

When I did a couple of applications it took longer than that but it did say payment would be back dated so time did not mater.0

Do AA not check with GPs? Two weeks from submitting a claim to first payment seems incredibly quick.0
