General question - does opening up a new laptop for this kind of upgrade invalidate the guarantee?0
-
Good question on guarantee on anything else it would but on computers we have been opening our desktops for decades to add components and upgrade and I never heard of guarantee problem.0

Desktops - agree, kind of their raison d'être.dnpark38 said:Good question on guarantee on anything else it would but on computers we have been opening our desktops for decades to add components and upgrade and I never heard of guarantee problem.
Bit different to cracking open a laptop - didn't/don't they have anti-tamper one-time seals/screws so that they can go "Ah-ha!" when you try and return it?1 -
I've never seen a tamperproof screw on a laptop memory cover or a hard drive slot.
Cracking open the case might be different.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
SSD & memory are normally considered user replaceable/upgradeable parts on HP laptops so won't affect warranty.0

Even when such replace/upgrade needs the case to be opened (there being no separate covers or slots for SSD/RAM)?unforeseen said:SSD & memory are normally considered user replaceable/upgradeable parts on HP laptops so won't affect warranty.0 -
