    1. Why on earth does anyone need 16 tabs open at the same time!
Different people use their laptops in different ways.
I've probably got 40 or more tabs open in Firefox and maybe 10 in another browser. It's not at all unusual, from what I've seen of other people's browser use.

    4. Get the store to let you try the model of your choice before buying it
If in Currys, check the build quality by opening the thing up, picking it up by the keyboard and flexing it.

A decent rigid chassis won't snap in two.

Thanks.  I'm not a gamer.  I do have lots of tabs open at the same time.  I currently have 16 open!  Generally, as well as almost constantly surfing, flicking through youtube video's, using the regular, microsoft products, I don't really use it for anything else.  I probably would like better internal speakers but that is realistically all I'd like to change!

I definitely don't want to cheap out and I do think Lenovo are decent.  I can't afford a MAC and my son say's I wouldn't get on with the change either!

    2. I expect that you son is correct about the MAC.
    3. It would be wise not to "cheap out". The way that Microsoft keeps bloating their OS, the cheaper PC's will more than likely become under powered far too soon.
    4. Get the store to let you try the model of your choice before buying it
    5. Have you tried asking an AI chat bot, to give you review feedback (good & bad) on the model you have selected to buy?
1  Quite possibly ADHD!  I tend to have a hundred things on the go all at the same time!
    4  Yes, that makes sense.
    5  No, but I will
  • Well, I've really confused myself now!  I've done the AI chat bot and basically I am now looking at Dell Laptops.  I had a fantastic dell previously and they appear to be upgradable.

I think I'm likely to go for a Dell.  Currently looking at theirblack friday offers with additional offers like 50% off extendable warranty.

16 tabs is negligible, there are people that have several thousand open.

    OK, I'll bite.

What possible use case requires someone to have several thousand tabs open on a browser?

Last year I bought a Vostro laptop direct from Dell. Within a month one of the key tops “flipped up”. The scissor hinge was poorly moulded, no problem you might think… Dell Support said any keyboard fault must be unfair usage and wouldn’t entertain a warranty repair. They wanted £168 to repair the keyboard on site!
I bought a pack of scissor hinges from eBay for £4 and fixed it myself, a 2 minute job.
By the way, my particular Dell laptop has RAM soldered to the motherboard, so is not upgradable as far as RAM is concerned.
