According to BBC - "Household energy bills to be cut - OBR report"
On live updating news - as OBR releases 35 mins before Reeves due to stand up in WM.
"Household gas and electricity costs will be lowered through cuts to green levies on energy bills, the OBR report says.
It will cost around £2.3bn, the OBR forecasts."
Lets see if it is actually in the budget when it is issued - following Reeves speech this time one assumes - and what the timescales are.

I suspect this might have been covered byenergy company obligation (ECO) to be scrapped - RR says £150 will come off bills next year as a resultNot sure though I would really say its what I wanted - in terms of a serious review of Net Zeros current and future predicted cost rises. And leaves the question - what if anything is going to be done to help the poor insulate their homes ?0

I think it is only £150 off that includes what increases were in the pipeline for next year as well as some stuff already existing so not a simple calculation straight off today's cost, should be coming off the electric standing charge but given the nature of Ofgem and retail energy they will probably try to dodge out of that.
Also does not seem to be any details on the £2500 air-to-to grants which were supposed to be in the budget.0 -
As other posts - its already in place according to gov website - not everyhing to do with the budget has to be in the budget speech - so should be availableNotice the "has been" not will be.

There's no dodging of anything - it's already been said that this will come off the energy unit rates from what I've seen.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

It was on Martin's recap on Twitter IIRC - from memory he said that it would likely be around 3p off electric and 0.5p off gas.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Was that off unit rates or SC, do you remember?EssexHebridean said:It was on Martin's recap on Twitter IIRC - from memory he said that it would likely be around 3p off electric and 0.5p off gas.
Edit: just reread your previous post where you said unit rates.
(Leaving my post up anyway to highlight, in case anyone else missed it the first time round like I did.)0 -
Is this £150 to come off the 4-5% predicted increase in the cap from April?
Or already factored in?How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
So bills reducing by £12.50 a month on average starting from April?0

Just noticed BBC have now put a better split on the £150 - or rather maybe £147"Budget 2025: Key points at a glance"Guess the £59 the old ECO scheme or modern variant
Green levies taken off energy bills and paid through general taxation, in a move the Treasury says will save households £88 a year
It says a further £59 saving will be made by scrapping a customer-funded scheme helping low-income households insulate their homes
