Hi, I am an Ovo customer, no smart meter, I prefer to read my meter & ring through every 22nd month. Mines gone up to £148 pm, just me & electric only, don't have gas. Since sse changed to Ovo they've always told me I have to be 3 x my monthly dd payment in credit for them to even discuss a refund. So I just leave my £400 plus credit balance to rollover. I always find last 3 years anyway that even after my winter bill in about April I'm still in credit. I have 2 storage heaters downstairs & 1 electric heater upstairs in another room. Plenty of layers, hotties & covers, Sherpa covers are the best I find. If I keep to my routine I don't actually freeze😁.

Whilst the media focuses on the dual fuel cap - that has gone up 2% in Oct and only 0.2% in the recently announced Jan - due largely to the price of gas dropping - as their electric unit rates up over 5%.

Those of us on electric only - well multirate electric users - the profile class 2 cap - have seen this govts energy policies - not the energy suppliers - drag our energy costs up 3% in Oct and another 4.3% to come in Jan - that's 7.5% in 3 months.

Driving those paying the highest Ofgem rates for heating, further towards - if not already in - energy poverty.

Martin Lewis on last nights show said at end of November if you are more than two months of DD in credit you should ask for the rest back (if you want it)

The importantt hing their is the rest back - not the total.

You are now expected to be in credit - year round.  And that means in decent credit now.

Edit and as above for those on profile class 2 - tge ratio of winter to summer bills might well be higher - simply because electric heating is more expensive for electric than gas.

My winter bills are regularly over 3x my summer bills in deep winter - the usage ratio even higher despite third summer bills being SC and if I het my house to the same level most with gas do - likely well over that.

I used to heat to 17/18 - and used about 20% more in kWh per year - i now hest lr to 16/ 17 max (turn nsh down own if hit 17, up if 15) and rest to 14/15 max.  My bills used to be well over 4x summer (energy use exc SC)
