Octopus Flux Tariff

How am I supposed to work out if a tariff like octopus flux would work for me?

I have a 2 up 2 up semi detached house: single fuel (no gas): an array of 10 solar panels: 6kw battery: ASHP.

Currently on the Octupus flex tariff with a monthly dd of just £8, reduced by Octopus due to a high credit balance.

Looking at the flux tariff I am intrigued by the idea of loading the battery and heating the HW during the cheaper 2am to 5am slot. Then looking to discharge battery during peak time (4pm to 7pm).

But how do I know if this would be worthwhile and save money with a higher cost of usage during other hours?

Thanks

If you have a smartphone Octopus Compare (android app) compares any two Octopus tariffs you choose using your own consumption data. Day, week or month graphs are available for free.

In winter you are likely to use all you can store in the batteries during any cheap slots to power the heat pump/run the house when electricity is more expensive.

I'm on Cosy, the battery is set to fill for the whole of all 3 cheap slots (13.41p/kWh) so I'm also powering any household use and the heat pump at the cheaper price from the grid. I run the washer/dryer/dishwasher during these slots too. I setback the house temperature by 2C from 9pm so heat the tank once a day from 10pm, when the the house won't be calling for heat.

On Cosy our average unit price for the last 28 days was 13.68p, so very little from the grid at more expensive times. Any export is at the 15p rate but there's very little at this time
