Buying an ADSL Modem

Hi everyone,
After reading all the various comments on here about broadband, I have decided to sign up for https://www.e7even.com for when it eventually arrives here in my area on the 6th of July. Trouble is they dont supply a modem !!!
Now I have no real use at this moment in time for the wireless option, but I am wondering just how much of a difference there is between variying modems. You can easily pick one up on ebay for less than £10 delivered, but can also easily pay over £100 ???.
Does anyone have any suggestions on why an expensive one would be better than a cheap one ? Any help woulb be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Spending around £60 should get you a decent router, with all the functionality you'll need, and also an inbuilt firewall/packet filter.
It's worth the money too as it helps provide a decent first line of protection. I still run software firewalls on the machines in my house, but only as a secondary measure.
Netgear do a decent one (can't remember model name...DG-834 maybe), or I have a Draytek Vigor 2600, which usually go for £60-80 on eBay. Slightly more advanced but still a brilliant router."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
