I've recently has a solar panel and battery system installed. 22x Akio 480w panels + Tesla Battery + Tesla Gateway + Surge Protection + EV cable by MCS installer for £20k.
That's insanely overpriced. Installers I use to help others offer 22 X Eurener 500W bifacial panels + PW3 for £13.3K installed including bird netting, 10 year workmanship warranty and G99 application!
No it isn't insanely overpriced for what I got, I did a lot of price checking with local suppliers and my system is more complex than a basic system.

My system includes the Tesla Gateway as well as the 13.5kw battery which needs an intelligent cable (3 core + comms), the Akio Panels are superior (higher output 480w per panel, better efficiency, smaller, lower weight), I don't need bifacial panels because I'm using Solar Skirt bird netting not the cheap mesh systems. My install needed quite complex scaffolding arrangement + a 20m trench dug and backfilled, also my price includes a 30m Intelligent (3 core + comms) EV cable at about £400 ish + Surge protection is included, which is usually missed off the most basic quotes.

What's the payback time on that lot?

I'm glad you're happy but the price still seems mad.

Seems expensive I can understand, but is what you should be expecting to pay for a non standard system using higher quality components, if it was much less corners are being cut by your installer somewhere.

About 11.3 years, I have relatively high energy usage.

There is simply no level of complexity that could warrant that.

    - Solaskirt costs £1300 installed over bird netting.
    - Eurener 500W bifacial panels outperform Aiko 480W in real world conditions and in lab conditions (hence the peak rating). And they're not Owned by or Made in China.
    - Digging a trench is £200 for a laborer per day plus any equipment rental
    - Surge protection and gateway is included in the above figure.

I am not seeing any justification for a quote above £15K (include all costs/ installer profit etc.) Payback should occur well under 7 years for high consumption households with PW3 installations.... but I am glad you're happy too.

    -  10 x 400w LG Bifacial + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial + 2 570W SHARP Bifacial + 5kW SolarEdge Inverter + SolarEdge Optimizers. SE London.

    -  Triple aspect. (33% ENE.33% SSE. 34% WSW)

    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (The most efficient gas boiler sold)

Feel free to DM me for help with any form of energy saving! Happy to help!

    Hardware / Scafolding / Trench Work / Powerwall Plinth / Insurances Documentation etc about £14,700 + £1,500 labour (3.5 days) = £16,200 - £20,000 = £3,800 installer profit & their costs etc
