Free Will Month

My mum had just had a will drawn up under the Free Month for over 55s.
Her assets are only bank accounts , no property or any other assets.
The beneficiaries are myself, my sibling and seven grandchildren. All the grands to receive equal amount, my sibling to received a much larger amount, however I am to receive twice as much as my sibling.
All details were provided over email. Then went last week to the office to sign
However during the appointment and after signing it, Solicitor said she will only provide a copy (said original must remain with the solicitor) after my mum sends in a Letter of Wishes to explain her reasons for willing me more than my sibling.
Is this right?
My mum is quite upset by this, because she feels she is giving my sibling a generous amount as it is and doesn’t understand why she have to justify the amounts.

The solicitor is trying to protect you from any difficulties when mum dies - your sibling may challenge things but if there is an explanation from your mother it will make the administration of the estate go more smoothly3

Thank you for your reply.I understand and agree. But is it correct that she can’t get the original or even get a copy until she provides the letter?0
