Electric heating - well conventional - including NSH heaters - is I am afraid - even on a typical E7 deal - still a lot more expensive than gas.The top end modern Dimplex NSH - HHR and lot 20 - are now very programmable - time and user profile modes to suit those at home or those out during the day etc). But not all heaters are wired - and not all meters are wired / operate the same way to drive NSH.(A badly configured heater can add £s to the daily / weekly running costs.)So basicsDo you know the model of the heater or heaters in use.And as you are on E7 - can you confirm if heaters have both a normal - and a meter restricted (off peak switched) feed ? (Often the clue as simple as 2 isolator switches adjascent to each heater)You say you have you reviewed the configuration - what settings - times / temperatures etc are you currently using ?How many kWh are you using - across how many heaters - and what model sizes (they come in 4-5 sizes - e.g. 50 to 150 in the HHR series iirc) ?And is that energy draw now more consistant (subject to weather swings).[Or have you been spooked by say the initial charge taken when first powered on - which could be around 20kWh on the largest model - even if that not required to heat the room the following day to your setpoints.]Not all Dimplex's are their top end Quantums - so not all have the same wiring flexibility (single feed or dual on the Quantums - dual on other lot 20 iirc)As well as heater configuration advice - would you be willing to consider switching tariffs / suppliers ? - note only to be done once understand your particular home supply and heater config? If they are dual wired and so meter controlled charging - and you have a modern smets2 smart meter - you might want to look at say Snug Octopus and its when last checked 9p off peak rates for NSH charging - as opposed to E7.But if you don't have the right meter - and your a high heat user - do you know what your annual balance of off peak to peak usage levels are - it might be worth you considering an E7 tariff with a more aggressive balance - so a cheaper off peak rate balanced by a higher peak rate if a very high off peak user. And if yours are quantum heaters but they are single wired - there are also some interesting TOU tariffs available - that might also suit better than E7 higher day rates (e.g. Octopus Cosy - providing you can avoid heavy use in its even higher than e7 day - 4-7pm peak period - I think EOnNext also do a TOU these days. )Note (*)But whatever you do dont rush to switch based on some attractive headline rate - as you need particular heater / meter types and wiring set-ups to utilise the different options. And different off peak / peak balance to benefit or lose from certain alternate E7 suppliers.Others have had to cancel switches once realised they haven't suited their installations.

First thing I'd suggest is to double check exactly when your heaters are drawing their charge - if you have a smart meter then this is likely to be very straightforward via your energy supplier's app. If an older style meter or a smart meter that is not sending readings then you may need to take a more manual approach.juniorroged said:Hi all, I am on the Eon Power and I also got the dimplex storage heater, I ve tried setting it up but still notice my bill is quite high, would need help with anyone who has his running smoothly and also suggest a better starting as I am on the economy 7.
I would also as a first port of call be double checking that the readings are correct on your bill - ie that you are being charged correctly for the night and day rates. Occasionally these get switched round and if that happens you will see far higher charges than should be incurred.
Once the basics are confirmed as correct, then you can drill down into some more detail.
You might also want to confirm to us what the make and model of the heaters you have are.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
