Claim Form received I think I’ve missed date for Defence!

I received a claim form but I didn’t see the letter until now and I’ve opened it and it has an issue date of 14 October - I believe I had missed the deadline to submit a defence. Any advice on what I do next? The claim is easily defendable!
I’ve just seen a judgement was issued on the 4th. Can’t believe this has happened.. can I follow the set aside steps?

Depends who it's from and if they have got a CCJ. Log onto MCOL to look, urgently!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It says a judgement was entered against me - is that the same as a CCJ? It’s from Euro Car Park Ltd and they use DCB LegalCoupon-mad said:Depends who it's from and if they have got a CCJ. Log onto MCOL to look, urgently!

I’d get it paid straightaway in order to avoid that CCJ crippling you financially for the next 6 years. Don’t overlook doing this. It’s urgent.
EDIT TO ADD - is this a different ECP PCN to the one we helped with on one of your other recent private parking threads? Looking back over your previous threads, you seem to be getting into quite a tangle with PPCs. You really do need to focus on avoiding their territories. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Yes I’ve just seen if I get it paid within 30 days of the judgement it won’t affect my credit. I’m also about to join a defence company and they’re doing my security clearance checks, I’m hoping this won’t be affecting it. Weighing everything up, it seems paying is the best option for me. Such a sickening blow for a claim that is identical to one I’ve already defended.Umkomaas said:I received a claim form but I didn’t see the letter until now and I’ve opened it and it has an issue date of 14 October - I believe I had missed the deadline to submit a defence ….. can I follow the set aside steps?I don’t think that will persuade a Judge to set aside. You are correct I have been plagued with this trouble for one period of my life but with this forums help I’ve managed to not have to pay anything up until now. Looks like I have to accept this loss and put it all behind me.0 -
It wont affect anything if you pay DCB LEGAL as soon as possible , especially not jobs, because it will be expunged
Edit
Follow the advice by ChirpyChicken below and try to do a deal with a lower settlement offer

the amount you pay is negotiable, but you need to act super quick given the date of the judgment, ive sent you a private message, email them immediately with a nice low offer, but again have to act asap3

Thanks for this, I private messaged you but just for everyone else’s sake I thought I would respond here to say I unfortunately did not see this message before paying the full amount. Ironically the letter from DCB to request the payment in full just came through my letter box 10 minutes ago and I just so sick of it I rushed to pay it.ChirpyChicken said:the amount you pay is negotiable, but you need to act super quick given the date of the judgment, ive sent you a private message, email them immediately with a nice low offer, but again have to act asap1 -
Just wanted to confirm, now that I’ve paid this - there is nothing left for me to do? That is what their poxy letter states.. annoyingly I used the QR code given on the letter to pay and I didn’t get given any option to get a receipt or anything, I’ve just got the transaction on my bank statement.0

Email DCB Legal and add proof of payment
Make sure that your mail is checked regularly, once a week as a minimum, you dont want repeats2 -
You can still apply for a set aside under CPR 13.3(a). No guarantee but if you use the overriding objective argument, there is no reason a judge will not grant it. If you've already paid it though, I doubt you'd recover your costs though.2
