Primarily for listening at home or while travelling?
Need Active Noise Cancellation?
What's the usual source of content (phone? MP3 Player? Hi-fi?)1 -
It depends how you define "good sound quality". I always recommend the Anker noise cancelling ones (if you want N/C) as they are incredible value for money. I have compared them to my stepsons £300 Sony pair and I didn't notice any difference. The Ankers were about £35 on discount1

Noise cancellation would be a bonus but its not a deal breaker and the source of the music is phone/Spotify.0 -

Personally I use cheaper Sony ANC 'phones, have a history of losing them so keep the price down.

I assume that you want over the ear, rather than on ear or even earbuds.
My Soundcore Q30's get used nearly all day everyday and sound pretty good. The battery lasts around three days with that sort of usage. Cost me £70 several years ago. They aren't too heavy and quite comfortable, not ever so stylish though. Noise cancelling definitely helps when sitting on a train especially with someone sitting next to you yabbering away on their phone.
If I was buying again I'd be very tempted with the Sony WH=CH720N which get good reviews and cost around £65. My bro has a pair and IMO they are better than the Soundcore's although I've not tried their noise cancelling on a train.
TBH the best idea is to go down to John Lewis or Richer Sounds and check some outNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers2 -
Thanks for this as there are some really great options here. Really tempted to go for the Bowers & Wilkins but will probably go the Sony.flaneurs_lobster said:https://www.johnlewis.com/bowers-wilkins-px7-s2-noise-cancelling-wireless-over-ear-headphones/p109213625

I'd push the budget and go for Sony WH-1000XM5, they're a smidge over £200 right now - Sony WH-1000XM5 Hard Case Premium Noise Cancelling Wireless Over-Ear Headphones, Bluetooth, Clear Call Quality, Hi-Res Audio, Up to 30hr Battery Life, Includes Hard Case, iOS & Android - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo1

Sony WH-1000XM are great, the last digit after the M represents which generation they are. 6 is the latest but has a massive premium attached to that. The 5 are probably the sweet spot but you can still get the 4 and 3 for only a little less.
Have had the 3rd get for 6 years and they are still great - had to change the ear pads recently but still got a long battery despite nearly daily use.0
