Primarily for listening at home or while travelling?

    Need Active Noise Cancellation?

What's the usual source of content (phone? MP3 Player? Hi-fi?)

It depends how you define "good sound quality".  I always recommend the Anker noise cancelling ones (if you want N/C) as they are incredible value for money.  I have compared them to my stepsons £300 Sony pair and I didn't notice any difference.  The Ankers were about £35 on discount

It will be used a lot when travelling to and from work, etc.

Noise cancellation would be a bonus but its not a deal breaker and the source of the music is phone/Spotify.

I assume that you want over the ear, rather than on ear or even earbuds.

My Soundcore Q30's get used nearly all day everyday and sound pretty good. The battery lasts around three days with that sort of usage. Cost me £70 several years ago. They aren't too heavy and quite comfortable, not ever so stylish though. Noise cancelling definitely helps when sitting on a train especially with someone sitting next to you yabbering away on their phone.

If I was buying again I'd be very tempted with the Sony WH=CH720N which get good reviews and cost around £65. My bro has a pair and IMO they are better than the Soundcore's although I've not tried their noise cancelling on a train.

TBH the best idea is to go down to John Lewis or Richer Sounds and check some out
