Returning football boots with some insole logo wear

Hi all, I tried a pair of Adidas indoor boots/trainers in my local sports direct - in 8.5 and 9.5. Both didnt fit right, and no 9's in stock. So I purchased online. I used them for one session while playing in goal (Im recovering from a knee injury), and they feel quite big - almost like the 9.5's.
I think it would be best to return them, however the logo and writing on the insole has started to come off a little bit. I would say 95% of the logo is fine, but some letters have started to scuff off.
I'm not sure what to do, should I risk returning them? If they were declined, would they just resend them back out to me?

You won't get a refund on a pair of used boots unless they are faultyMrBrindle said:Hi all, I tried a pair of Adidas indoor boots/trainers in my local sports direct - in 8.5 and 9.5. Would you have been happy if your trainers had arrived in that condition?
Put an insole in them or wear thicker socks.

Your rights under the CCRs is to return the trainers for any reason or none.
This is to allow the purchaser to test the product to the same extent as they may test the product in store. In the case of footwear that would mean trying on and walking around a few steps on a clean, indoor floor.
You have done far more than that, wearing the boots to play a full game of football, presumably outside, and in doing so have inflicted noticeable wear on the boots.
The retailer is entitled to accept deduct a proportion from the boots reflecting the devaluation that had taken place by your use of the boots.
The retailer may determine that devaluation as 100% of the value. Some may agree and some may disagree with that level of devaluation.
Would you be happy to have received the brand new boots in the condition they now are with wear evident?
What would the average person pay for a pair of second-hand football boots compared to normal retail price? (Consider there may be sales soon and the price then lower in any case.)
I think the best thing to do is a pair of insoles or thicker socks.
Alternatively, can you sell the shoes as second-hand via an on-line service?
There was a recent thread about excessive wear on a pair of climbing trainers which may be of interest. This has discussed the various view points in the extent of wear and devaluation in some detail. I assume the comments in the other thread about the purchaser being a minor will not apply in the OP's case, so those posts need to be filtered out in the reading.
