I was expecting to help our 4 children through Uni. First got an apprenticeship, second studied in France (very low fees and no student loans), 3rd went when we were filling up OH’s SIPP so received almost maximum loans - now teaching so unlikely to repay full amount and 4th due to do 5 year degree and will get a top up from us but looking at getting a property in uni city. He’ll probably repay as should be a high earner by mid 30’s but I think helping to get onto property ladder is better (keeps costs down, a PET and ability to use equity to repay early if he wants).
