Morning again - I had another rough night so will probably have more than one snooze. I'm taking the ABs four times a day and keeping my fingers crossed that they start to work. The day is freezing and bright though I'm not venturing anywhere. I hope that all my fellow poorlies are on the mend too. xx11

Morning all
Pouring with rain here but much milder than it has been, I think I prefer cold but sunny!
I have stripped the bed this morning, big dog got on my bed she had an ear infection and has scratched at the ear until it bled 🙄 all over the duvet, I currently have it soaking in a bleach solution and will have to take it up to mums later to wash.
We are off for afternoon tea later on with mum, dd and I and my sister and her partner, and my cousin and her DH from Kent, OH is not coming as they could not provide many GF bits so he will stay home and walk the dogs.
I sat and wrapped all the Birthday gifts yesterday so that’s one job out of the way, I am going to try and do the Christmas ones tomorrow, I have ordered a few more bits and then I am done apart from the in-laws hamper which I will get nearer the time. I wanted it all done and wrapped before we go to Venice so I am very organised this year - which makes a change.
The insurance man came out yesterday the water has spread into the kitchen by a little way, they are coming next Friday to start the drying out process, the floor tiles have to come up all the skirting to come off the worktop needs replacing and the toilet has to be removed to ensure everything is dry, this can take weeks 🙄 thank goodness we are at my sisters on Christmas Day as mum could not manage the stairs here to use the loo. We also can’t get the same tiles as they appear to be out of stock so the whole floor in the kitchen may have to come up too as it goes right the way through, the man did suggest a different floor in the utility and loo but I said a firm no to that, it looks nice all the same and they have to provide like for like! So it looks like we will be in a mess for a while yet.
OH will get himself a curry or something later as we will provide be full from the afternoon tea, we can have a snack later if we need to.
Taff your poor OH, I hope he can get it sorted soon xx
Have good days all and take care xx

Hi everyone,
Gers, I hope you feel better soon, it's such a miserable thing to have.
Ruby, what a pain, I hope you win your fight. I remember one of our dogs chewed a biro on the settee, the insurance company insisted on trying to have it cleaned, I told them my MiL had tries and if she couldn't get it out no-one could. They replaced it but wouldn't replace the two chairs that matched the suite - very frustrating.
Taff, I hope OH gets to medical attention soon.
We started sorting our bedroom yesterday, we emptied the IKEA Kallax storage and took it back into the room it had been in. We also emptied the bookcase and will donate it. I have bought a walnut tallboy on Ebay and ordered a TV, I have always resisted a TV in the bedroom but I'm finding that sometimes I can't get comfortable unless I'm lying down so we're giving it a go. We've not bought an expensive one. I want to tackle the detritus that has been dotted around the room from emptying everything, I have several CS bags on the go and a bag of brand new toys to take to Lidl's toy collection.
I'm by myself, Steve has gone over to Chris and Crystal's to do some more work on the stables which he's rather neglected while we've been decorating here. Hopefully it will soon be finished, he's hanging internal doors today.
Have a good day.11 -
Oh, @Taff - your poor OH, I hope that he's getting either better or medical attention, or both. @Ruby, your water damage woes goes on, at least things are starting to move. Lovely news about your little one @DP1. And @Camelot - just rest up!The ABs may well be starting to work, I managed a whole hour before needing to 'go' again. Still very painful, need to hang on for the consultant appointment on Friday afternoon. During the hour I went out to a local'ish village shop as they had got a delivery of Dexter steak pies and mince, managed to get home just in time and no more.

Good afternoon all, thanks @Gers for the start off - I hope your ABs are giving you some relief from the wretched UTI. Roll on Friday's consultant appointment.
We've had overnight rain followed by a dry but dull day. Much milder, although the outside temperatures are still feeling a couple of degrees lower than it really is. No matter, I'm not going anywhere today.
Yesterday I posted the council form off and called into the Co-op as I was passing. I bought a few YS bits including 2 pints of milk (for porridge and creme caramels), a pack of ham slices (toasties and sandwiches) and a sweetheart cabbage that will go nicely with a small gammon joint that's in the SC, plus I can use the gammon stock and meat trimmings for a batch of celery & bacon soup for lunches. I'm defrosting a h/m prawn risotto for tonight's tea and at last have room in the freezer for some C-supplies.
I have a list of what I need/want and over the weekend will send an order for delivery.
Plans for today have been derailed by a very long phone call from DS. Nothing in particular, just general chit chat. I sometimes wonder what we find to talk about! When I get round to it, I'll do a bathroom tidy/clean and I could also do with going through the kitchen gubbins drawer - we all have one.
No hurry, it will get done when it gets done.
@Scarlet - I know what you mean about the price of stamps. I bought a book of 2nd class ones the other day and they work out dearer than the cards I'll be sending.
@TA - Like you, I used to enjoy the build up to Xmas, looking for/choosing gifts etc but it no longer sparks joy so I just don't do it anymore. Speaking to family and friends, they're also of the same mind so we arrange a meet-up for coffee or a meal out with just a small gift of something like chocolates, posh biscuits etc. Cards are down to a minimum too, the only exceptions being for a few people who would be disappointed if they didn't receive one.
@Coxy - Despite what I've said above, I love the idea of recreating a childhood photo - now that's a gift I'd really appreciate!
@Izzy - I hope your friend has her op and gets home asap; her hospital stay sounds dreadful.
@dp1 - Good to hear LO is having a lovely weekend.
@Ruby - Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear your kitchen woes are going from bad to worse.
Right, must crack on otherwise the day will have been and gone! Take care, healing wishes for the poorly ones and hugs if you're having a bad day. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8
